Balut is a fertilized duck egg the embryo permitted to develop in the shell from 16 to 25 days then boiled in the shell.
So when you crack it a partially-formed duck embryo soaking in a pocket of chicken-soup-like broth and surrounded by the usual components of a hard-boiled egg.
They are sold as street foods ,and are sold by a man shouting out loud saying "Baluuuuut! baluuut!!" a classic vendor of balut holds a basket full of hot eggs then a bottle of a vinegar and a pack of salt, mostly they sell them at night time or late noons
So it looks like this
So how to eat balut?
First locate the rounded part of the egg
Second crack it then you can see a thin like cover inside but thats normal just rip that off after that you can see the chicken broth like liquid don't immediately sip that!!! It's more yummy if you put a spicy vinegar given by the vendor for FREE!! Just approach them or just put salt. It will surely give a different UMAMI flavor
third crack the other parts of the shell so after that you can see the yellow part and the embryo
And this is the epic part! Sometimes other balut has big embryo just like this!
And that's the thrilling part of balut if you can eat the "sisiw"(embryo/fetus chick)
Fourth after eating the whole yellow thing with the chick eat the hard white part and enjoy cause it's so chewy
Now what do you think can you eat this?!
