Whenever we see chilies, especially our very own siling labuyo, "burning hot sensation" immediately comes into mind. We also consider the presence of chili in our food a challenge forgetting that we actually can benefit from them, too.
Who knew that chilies are excellent sources of Vitamins A, B, C and E with minerals like molybdenum, manganese, folate, potassium, thiamine and copper. In fact, chili contains seven times more Vitamin C than orange.
Ever since its introduction to India in 1498, chilies have been included in Ayurvedic medicines and used as tonic to ward off many diseases. Chilies are good for slimming down as it burns the calories easily. Chilies inhibit the appetite, help to clear the lungs and stimulate the digestive system.
