Today I harvested the last of the cherry tomatoes on the dried up vine outside. They'll become some kind of relish. I need to think about it a bit more.
The sweet potato is from a vine that I planted a year ago under our bedroom window. Sweet potatoes make great gap fillers and the vines provide shade for the other plants in the garden. They also make purple flowers that birds love and the leaves are edible. They look great in hanging baskets if you don't have gardening space. To grow a sweet potato all you need to do is put a vine in some water to root and then plant your cutting when the roots are 3 inches long.
The potatoes come from a cutting that started growing in the worm bin. I'm not sure what the scale on them is from, I suspect it's from drying out. Not sure yet if I'm going to eat them.
Finally we have mint and Lemon Verbena. Both went into some cucumber water for extra flavor.
Thus my report for the day:)
