I donated my auto-drip and replaced it with my stainless steel french press and never looked back!
Start with a 12 to 1 Water to Grind Ratio. For a lighter brew subtract 1 teaspoon of coarse grind. For a stronger brew add 1 teaspoon of coarse grind. For example: Use 12 oz of Drinking Water for every 1 oz of Coarse Coffee Grinds.
Always burr grind your coffee beans right before boiling your water. No exceptions. Only use drinking water. Never use tap.
Tip: I microwave 12oz of Drinking Water for 5 minutes instead of boiling.
Pour a third of your boiled water into your french press with your coffee grinds and allow the mix to “bloom” for 30 seconds then stir with chopsticks for another 5 seconds. Then add the remaining 3/4ths of boiled water into your French Press. Place the plunger top onto your french press and wait for exactly 4 minutes. No more. No less.
After 4 minutes - Plunge! Serve immediately! Enjoy!
For Iced Coffee: Allow to cool & then add ice & 2 or 3 Tablespoons of Coconut Milk with your favorite sweetener(I use Stevia).
Cleanup is a cinch. Simply rinse out coffee grinds and drain down the sink. Your sink won’t get clogged so no worries. I use a toothbrush to brush my plunger. Use mild soap when necessary.
Final thoughts: I’ve noticed that it requires literally twice as much coffee beans when brewing the french press method when compared against an auto-drip coffee machine. But it’s totally worth it! It really does taste just as good as Starbucks & cheaper too. Cheers.
