Long time, no see, my friends!
Since I’m the “I want everything, and I want it now” -type of person, I wanted to share with you a super simple chocolate cake recipe today. For this one, you don’t need hours of preparation, or not even many kitchen equipment, basically all you need is a bowl, a spoon, a fork and a cake tin. Yet, the cake is super rich and moist, I can assure you that you'll love it! I actually baked this cake a while back, and I'm craving it again now as I'm writing this! So, let's get to the recipe!
Sweet and simple chocolate cake
Ingredients:
1 ⅓ cup (= 4 dl) all-purpose flour
1 cup (= 2.5 dl) sugar
⅓ cup (= 0.75 dl) dark cocoa powder (not the sugary one)
1 tbsp vanilla sugar
1 tsp baking soda
¾ tsp salt
1 cup (= 2.5 dl) water
½ cup (= 1.1 dl) vegetable oil
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Method:
Preheat the oven to 175 °C (= 350 °F). Butter and flour your cake tin. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add in the liquids. Pour the batter into the cake tin. Bake for approx. 40 minutes, try with a cocktail stick if it’s ready (the batter doesn’t stick). Let the cake cool down a bit before you remove it from the tin, and let it cool down properly before the next step.
While waiting for the cake to bake or cool down, lick the bowl (the best part of baking in my opinion!)
And then the frosting, since a chocolate cake isn’t chocolately enough without frosting!
Ingredients:
50 grams vegan butter/margarine (do NOT melt it)
¼ cup (= 0.5 dl) dark cocoa powder (again, not the sugary one)
a little less than 1 cup (= 2.3 dl) powdered sugar
1-1.5 tbsp plant milk/water (you can also use cold coffee if you like it that way)
pinch of salt
Method:
Let the butter/margarine sit in room temperature for a while so that it becomes softer. Mix everything together using a fork and spread onto the cake.
If you wish to do something extra, then decorate with sprinkles or pieces of chocolate (why not both?).
Enjoy! 😋
