There's this jokes I heard from a friend long time ago about Nasi Lemak. Nasi lemak is a Malaysian fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf. It's wrapped in banana leaf and a popular breakfast choice among the locals.
The banana leaves are use to enhances the dish as it imparts a light fragrance to the rice when wrapped warm and allowed to sit for a short period of time. It's not meant to be ate.
Okay, back to the jokes, there's this Tour guide who was hired by a group of tourists from UK. He was hired to bring them to the National Park at Kundasang, Sabah (in Borneo). They travel from Kota Kinabalu so early in the morning and didn't managed to have a breakfast.
Upon reaching the National Park, the tourists are kinda hungry. Unfortunately, the restaurant at that place is not opened yet. The Tourist guide sympathised them so he gave them his lunch pack of Nasi Lemak wrap with banana leaf.
The tourists accepted it with thanks and started eating inside the Van. The Guide excused himself to the wash room nearby. When he come back, he asked one of Tourist,
How's the Nasi Lemak Sir?
The tourist answered,
"Owwh, it was so delicious but the Salad taste awful"
The guide was speechless as he noticed the tourist ate the Banana leaf too!!
