Greetings, gamers and those full of curiosity! Have you heard of the new game, Cyberpunk 2077? (It's not a blockchain game.) It has been in development for about 7 years by CD Projekt Red. I'm not one of the people who has been anticipating it all that time. I had only heard its name here and there this past year and never did any further research on the game. When it came out, though, I came across the posts of several Hivers who got the game and my interest was piqued.
I found out that the game was an action RPG comparable to the Fallout series, in my opinion. You can start the game as either street kid, a corporation employee, or a nomad.
Nomads live in clans beyond Night City's limits, where there nothing but ghost towns, succulents, and dust. Few live out there. There's even absence of animals in this dark future version of America.
Street kids are tough. You have to be when you're growing up in a slum. If you're not tough, Night City will eat you alive. Just take this child for example. Innocently playing hopscotch but don't mess with him because he's packing iron!
Corporations have a heavy presence in this dystopian future. They war with one another and betray their own all in the name of profit. I chose to start off as a corpo. I had it all: a company home, healthcare, benefits... But things went south and I had to take to the streets. You know what they say, "You can kick the rat out of the corpo but you can't kick the corpo out of the rat."
There's so much to do in this game. You can fight (or commit) crime, work side hustles, visit the red light district, and take control of a variety of wheels.
Here's me getting some shiny new chrome (cybernetic implants) installed, of which there is a plethora, provided you have enough Eurodollars. The cyberware I first received from my ripperdoc friend helped with guided bullets that ricochet off my adversaries, but it quickly became obsolete and was replaced.
Throughout the game you meet and have dealings with a lot of unsavory characters.
I even chanced the Dalai Lama walkin' down the street!
Here's me again, this time showing off a police cruiser that I managed to grab. Those things are built like tanks!
You have to keep an eye on your carry weigh, especially since there is so much to loot in this game from weapons, unique clothing, cyberware, lots of food, and my favorite: junk. Just look at all the junk I've amassed! Most of it is only worth $3 a piece and only good for recycling into components but some, like the ear rings and necklaces, are worth $750 . I'd rather sell those. Mostly you just find packs of cards and ashtrays everywhere. There is one perk that automatically converts junk into components upon picking them up but then I wouldn't have this fine collection you see here.
The story is pretty interesting and my character is in a rather tough spot right now. I've met the Keanu Reeves character. The decisions you make in this game do have impacts on the world around you. The only thing is I don't want to play the story too fast. But then, if I do beat it, I could always try the next playthrough on hard. Right now I have a really nice revolver which I've found and upgraded and it makes fights a breeze. But if I wander to any of the other districts, that's when I notice enemies are a little tougher. I had to box it out with this arrogant jerk in the Arroyo area and he kicked my butt! I'll get back to him.
What I don't know is if my bare fists count as blunt weapons. If they do, then I should really use my perk points to enhance my street brawler abilities.
My Experience
I haven't had too many bugs while playing. Just the occasional item that's supposed to be in an NPC's hand that is flying around weirdly like a phone or cigarrette. The game has crashed on me twice (Twice). Also, very rarely there is a junk item I find that un impossible to pick up but it's not game breaking. Oh I just remembered, sometimes mission tracking can be a bit wonky. There was also this one mission where I have to retrieve a stashed item but when I opened the container there is nothing in there. Hm... There is a new patch ready to download but I'm gonna have to delete some files if I want it because I have no space! The game was a massive download, followed by a massive update which took 3 hours the day I got it.
Anyways...
Well, I guess that's it from me on this game. It is very time consuming and I have a lot of time on my hands. Are you intrigued? Do you already have it? I'd like to know your experience. Sorry, maybe next time I'll capture some more action-filled screenshots.
(All pictures are my own personal screenshots from the game>)
It is pretty hard trying to find a single moment worthy of capturing the feel of this game.
