Levurda - bear garlic (Allium ursinum)

Hive account@riverflows provided the inspiration - a post about wild garlic. Here it's very wide spread especially in the forests of the Balkan mountains. However, now with the quarantine, travel is not possible, so I'm glad a few years back I tried to start growing the plant in our garden.

This photo is from 10 days ago, before a sudden snow event dropped 30 cm of fresh wet snow in 2 days. Since then, it's almost all melted and we expect to have another one next week. April snow...

This type of allium prefers a shady moist spot in spring, as it's natural habitat is ground cover in a deciduous forest. Dappled shade, moist organic mulch. I removed the mulch for the photo, otherwise it was mulched with the leaves of the elder bush growing above it.
