Yes we still have a garden!! If you can call a single tomato plant a garden haha. About a week ago we had a short cold snap. By cold snap I mean it was coolish during the day but got down to the 40s at night. I thought for sure our garden would perish. As you can probably tell from the title of this post our few plants preserved.
(these little guys have been hanging out here for a month or so)
We had a single cucumber and tomato plant (with 9 tomatoes on it!). I did decide to pull the cucumber plant. While there was a single cucumber growing it didn’t seem to be doing much and the ducks LOVE cucumber plants so I decided to be done with it. I left the tomato plant to see if they would ripen. So far we have picked a single little tomato! It was really exciting especially since we have had such trouble with our tomato plants. I did water it too much which caused it to split, a lesson for next time! Now we have 3 more ripening plus another 6 green ones. I’m going to let it go until the weather kills it just to see how long our growing season really is.
(still have a little bit of catnip as well)
I’m also clearing the garden out for the season. The supplies we have left will be used to build our permanent garden hopefully this winter. We will be leaving the dividing fence up because there is a blueberry plant back there that our dogs like to destroy. Not much going on but I thought you guys might like to know that we are still growing things!
