Hello my fellow gardening enthusiasts.
I just wanted to give a quick update on my front hydrogarden. The plants are maturing nicely and growing strong. It looks like I will have a sustainable food cycle in about 15 days from now. The first tomatoes are ripening and giving us a preview of the goodness to come.
The cucumber vines have really accelerated their growth over the last 10 days, putting out very large and healthy dark green leaves. Currently there are 10 cucumbers in various stages of development on the 2 vines. This "Tyria" variety grow 12-14" long on average, but we usually get them to 16" in hydroponic systems.
The 3 varieties of tomatoes growing in the dutch buckets have also accelerated in growth recently, putting out multiple high count clusters on each vine. We have one larger 'ugly style' tomato determinate plant , 2 cherry tomato vines, 2 'Climstar' smooth cluster tomato vines, and 1 steakhouse vine in the buckets. There are also additional Climstar vines on the side rails mixed in with the sweet bell peppers.
The first clusters off each are starting to ripen. Within 15 days the pictures should be much more 'visually' impressive with more ripe tomatoes in view.
The wider view showing the whole garden - and the lack of a cover box over the main reservoir. I have the wood cut for that, I just need to find the time this weekend to build it. I have been putting time into the back patio repairs and getting ready to install a sunshade over the Koi pond. The Sun angle is high now and that has become a priority to prevent rapid algae growth.
My garden is 10 days behind the container garden I built at my in-law's house. I will be posting the progress on that next. it is doing incredible to say the least.
I will give an update next week as the first harvest comes in.
