My new neighbor just transfered a week ago and I got curious and interested in the noise of birds coming from their house. My son and I paid a visit and saw lots of lovebirds. I learned that they breed lovebirds and sells them for 500 pesos each pair. I automatically fell in love with its beautiful colors so i decided to research on these magnificent bird species.
Lovebird is the common name of Agapornis (Greek: αγάπη agape 'love'; όρνις ornis 'bird'), a small genus of parrot. Eight species are native to the African continent, with the grey-headed lovebird being native to Madagascar.
Social and affectionate, the name comes from the parrots' strong, monogamous pair bonding and the long periods which paired birds spend sitting together. Lovebirds live in small flocks and eat fruit, vegetables, grasses, and seeds. Black-winged lovebirds also eat insects and figs, and black-collared lovebirds have a special dietary requirement for native figs, making them problematic to keep in captivity.
