In these days where leisure hours abound, I have started to look for information in the networks on topics related to health, perhaps the pandemic has made me pay a little more attention to this aspect. Among the queries made, I was particularly struck by the considerations about the importance that a substance known as Collagen has for our body.

Collagen is a protein molecule that is found in abundance in the skin and bones of mammals such as humans, reaching almost ¼ of the total mass of proteins in them. Its secretion mainly takes place in the connective tissue cells.
The importance of Collagen lies in its positive impact on various aspects of human health, not only in the contribution to the fresh appearance of the skin on which the female public and the marketing of beauty treatments have focused their interest. One of its greatest contributions when taken as a food supplement is that it helps to reduce inflammation, joint pain and the effects of osteoarthritis that usually appear with aging and the decrease in the levels of this protein in our body.

Other benefits would be related to preliminary medical studies which point out that the consumption of Collagen can minimize the incidence of bone diseases such as osteoporosis, since its regular intake would contribute to the increase in bone mineral density (BMD). For its part, other research also indicates that this protein could favor an increase in muscle mass and thus minimize the impact of the so-called sarcopenia or loss of it that is proper in the elderly.

As we have pointed out the benefits that Collagen brings to our health are diverse, we have only pointed out some of the best known. Collagen supplements, whether in powder or capsule form, are easy to obtain from large pharmacy chains and health food stores. The main drawback for the vast majority of the Venezuelan population is that they are inaccessible to their purchasing power. Packages with a presentation of 60 capsules of 500 mg. (from unrecognized laboratories) have a sale price ranging from $ 5 and up. Given this reality, I want to show you the following preparation of a natural drink that can help us meet our needs in terms of consuming this protein.
Below are the ingredients required for its preparation:

The basis of the preparation of this drink is 1 kilogram of beef red bones which will give us the required collagen intake. It is preferable that these bones be found with little or no meat. They will undergo a cooking process, so we place them in a pot that is large in size and add 2 liters of mineral water to it.

Over low heat and for about 2 hours the red bones are cooked. The idea is that they are releasing as much collagen as possible in them.

After the expected cooking time has elapsed and once the water has acquired a dark brown hue. Let the liquid obtained cool down to room temperature, removing the bones from the inside of the pot. Once the liquid obtained from cooking the bones has cooled, we take it to the refrigerator to cool it down.

On the other hand, we are cutting the three carrots into small slices so that they are easily processed by the blender.

We remove the peels of the tangerines and separate them into their respective segments. Before introducing them into the blender, we must remove the seeds since if not they will give a bitter touch to the drink.

We take several mint leaves and chop them into small pieces before putting them in the blender.

We incorporate in the blender the liquid obtained from the cooking of the red bones and that we had previously put to cool in the refrigerator. Mix for a few minutes so that a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Before serving we pass the drink through a strainer.

Thus we obtain a light brown liquid ready to be tasted.

This concludes the preparation of this natural collagen drink with tangerine flavor. The preparation is spectacular to taste, without any flavor of meat which was one of my biggest doubts before its preparation. I hope you are encouraged to prepare it so that you can give me your comments.
