Our second day in Edinburgh started with a great breakfast at the hotel. We were able to eat in the Lounge which is reserved for holders of a membership card for Marriott hotels.
Afterwards, we decided to walk to Calton Hill. Even though, we had typical Scottish weather, we could get a great view on the city and the surroundings.
On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at the university. There was some sort of event with food trucks and tapped beer going on so that we sat down and enjoyed a break.
With some fresh energy we decided to walk to The Meadows, which is a park behind the university. I liked the mix of old and new buildings. There were also a lot of people enjoying the weather while playing sports or barbecuing.
After that it was time for another coffee break and some banana bread:
I was ready for a short nap at the hotel after all the walking. We also had a reservation at a restaurant called LeftField. I enjoyed this place a lot and the food, service & drinks were amazing. Here are the photos and a link to TripAdvisor:
(Cocktails to start the night)

(Dessert)
This dinner alone was a highlight, however, the real highlight of the day was yet to come. We had tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo that night! The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a big concert directly within the Edinburgh castle. It has a mix of traditional music, military music, and modern performances! Since 1950 it is one of the biggest events in Scottland and nowadays it is watched by 100 million people on television.
(Strong Harry Potter vibes)
After this, we walked back to the hotel and enjoyed a few more beers at BrewDogs next to it. It was a long day and after these last beers I fell asleep like a baby.
We had one more day in Edinburgh and the post will follow within the next days!
Stay tuned
