Instead of taking drugs I decided that I would go the natural medicine path to treat a budding head cold. It was a really cold Sunday night and I needed something hot and spicy. And my head hurt. So I did what I do best, make soup.
I love homemade vegetable soup, it takes no time to chop the vegetables and pour in loads of turmeric spice. My thinking was that it had to stop my cold from developing. I have great faith in this medicinal herb. Unfortunately my turmeric did not grow in my garden so it had to be the spice from pantry.
I chopped a big onion, grated 6 big garlic cloves, chopped carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin, broccoli and silver beet.

The onion simmers in oil for a minute, then I add the garlic to simmer for 30 seconds and add the carrots and sweet potato to simmer for about 5 minutes. Next the pumpkin and broccoli go in to cook for a couple of minutes. Add the salt and pepper. I then pour in the turmeric powder, the chicken stock. The silver beet in the final vegetable to be added before serving.

Once the vegetables were blended I added a cup of soup pasta to bubble away for 7 minutes. The silver beet went in and then a few minutes later, I was eating spicy turmeric vegetable soup.

This morning the good news is that my head is still a little sore but not worse. More soup for me to today and tomorrow.
If my throat was sore I would have tried natural remedy of turmeric and honey. I was glad that my throat was not sore but a tad disappointed not to try this trusted proven family healing remedy. Another day.
Cheers and Blessings
