I used to be sick all the time growing up. I was often in the hospital for some illness or another. I had the cold or flu about 7 times every winter. It was just part of life for me.
I had allergies too. They were so bad that the allergist one time told me that the best thing I could do is go out on the ocean far from land or any other living thing. Of course that is not possible but it shows how many things I was allergic to.
I was very allergic to corn and any corn products. I would get migraines and be violently ill after eating any sort of corn product.
I was also allergic to many fresh fruits and vegetables. It was hard to find things I could eat.
In the fall my eyes would swell up like golf balls from the pollen and itch and burn like mad. I would go into sneezing fits for days. My nose and eyes would run all the time. Medicine would only reduce the effects a little bit.
My sinuses were damaged so badly that I could not get air through my nose without an inhaler.
And I was diagnosed with some sort of hypertension disorder. I was not allowed to eat white processed sugar or sugar sweetened products. Chocolate was also not allowed. So for me it was carob bean powder and honey.

Now, for a bit of a background. I had no knowledge of proper foods, chemicals, artificial ingredients or other harmful things.
I grew up surrounded by farm fields on all four sides. Most of the year we were sprayed and bombarded with chemicals all the time. The air plane would fly over spraying a yellow fog over the potato fields and we would stand outside waving at him as he flew over death defyingly low. The yellow fog would cover us as we stood there waving happily.
We just had no idea back then.
A Discovery

In later years I was walking down the streets of Germany and found organic bananas on sale. I dont know what caused me to stop. Bananas were one of the worst things I could eat. They would make me horribly sick. I was still getting sick all the time as it was.
But I bought one of those organic bananas and ate it. With no bad reaction.
This started my many year's long study of food.
Now I know that anything processed too much has less value to your body. The more processed it is, the fewer beneficial nutrients are left in it.
And if you cant find it in nature, dont eat it.
These days our food is full of artificial chemicals, preservatives and ingredients.
I was eating a microwave TV dinner one evening and read the ingredients. A pea had several ingredients in it. A simple pea. It should have just said "peas" but no, they were loaded with chemicals. There are chemicals to retain color, texture, flavor and more.
Long ago when studies were done on these chemicals, tests showed that eating one portion a month was harmless over long time. But today we are flooded with these chemicals in nearly everything we eat.
I have learned to read the labels on food products. I study the ingredients and if it is not from nature, then I dont buy it.
Sadly even our fruits on in the fresh fruit isle are contaminated. Apples are so coated in pesticides and fungicides that they are actually one of the worst things you can eat.
So even whole fresh fruits and vegetables may be poisoned and we do not even know it.
Through the years the number of times I was sick reduced in number. Each year I was stronger and healthier.
Now I dont really get sick much at all. It happens sometimes but I am getting stronger with each passing year. And my allergies are gone now.
If I do feel something coming on, I turn to natural remedies for help. But that is an article for another day.
Read the ingredients. Find out what you are eating. And if it is not found in nature, dont eat it.
