As most of you know I am Canadian, and this weekend we celebrated our 150 Birthday, so with a weekend off, what's a lady to do. GO FISHING of Course. So when I was fishing I was experiencing some kind of allergy to some plant that was along the creek bed where I was fishing. My eyes started to water, and my nose was running like a tap. So after fishing, (skunked) I went home to take a histamine, but when I got to my medicine cabinet I had notice that the package was empty, so I drove to the pharmacy and of course it's a holiday it was closed. So now what. Kleenex in hand I started to google, some natural way to get rid of this. I found this recipe and I tried it immediately. Well holy SHIT, it worked like a charm. Within 10 minutes I was feeling the effects, and after about 25 minutes I was over it. It's a simple recipe that the ingredients can be found easily in most homes.
Red Onion Water
Onions contain a water soluble chemical compound called quercetin, which has been demonstrated in preliminary studies to reduce the amount of histamine produced by the body, therefore reducing symptoms of allergies. It is, essentially, nature’s version of an anti-histamine. Quercetin itself has also been shown to inhibit inflammation, as well as act as a bronchodilator, opening up airways and helping you breathe easier.
You will need…
-1 red onion
-4 cups of water
-Organic, raw, honey to taste
Directions
Thinly slice the onion and add it to the water. Allow it to infuse for 8-12 hours before drinking 1-2 times daily. It will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days. Stir some honey into individual glasses when you drink it if you like (I personally recommend it.)
