Last summer, I began a journey I never imagined would bring so much growth—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually, too. I’ve lost 45 pounds so far, and while the number is something I’m proud of, what means even more to me is that I’ve healed my relationship with food and reconnected with my body in ways I didn’t think were possible.
From Bingeing to Balance
Before this journey, binge eating was a constant struggle. Food was a comfort and a punishment, a cycle I felt trapped in. Now, I no longer feel powerless around food. I eat to nourish myself—not numb myself. There’s a peace in listening to my body instead of fighting it.
This transformation didn’t come overnight. It’s been months of unlearning diet culture and tuning in to my true needs. Some days were harder than others, but with each small win—each mindful meal, each time I honored hunger without guilt—I built trust with myself again.
Before it felt impossible to lose weight and followed alot of fad dieting but after having my son and gaining alot of weight (the heaviest ive ever been in my life) i knew i needed to make changes to my lifestyle and lose weight not only for myself but to be able to enjoy life and give my son my all he deserves a happy, healthy mom. Not a depressed overweight mom barely able to play with him, from that realization ive really started to focus on my cleaning up my diet and watching portions and healing myself inside and out.
A New Focus: Healing from the Inside Out
Instead of jumping straight into intense workouts, I chose a gentler path. I started with walking and stretching up until now. I'm prioritizing healing my core, pelvic floor, and posture—the foundation of all movement. I’ve learned that strength isn't about pushing harder, but rebuilding smarter. My body carried life and went through so much—it deserves to be cared for, not punished.

Syncing with My Cycle
One of the biggest changes I’ve made is aligning my diet and lifestyle with my menstrual cycle. This intuitive approach has been a game changer:
Luteal & Period Phases: I eat more, focusing on comfort and nourishment—warming foods, healthy fats, and grounding meals. I give myself permission to rest more during this time, knowing my body is doing deep inner work.
Follicular & Ovulation Phases: I feel lighter and more energetic, so I naturally eat less and incorporate fasting here and there. This is when I feel most productive and vibrant, so I use this energy wisely.
This rhythm has brought so much balance to my life. No more guilt for eating more some days or craving rest—just respect for the natural ebb and flow of being a woman.
A Nourishing Plate
These days, my meals are rich in fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds, legumes, and nuts. Whole, vibrant foods that energize me and keep my digestion happy. I’m not following any strict diet—just eating real, whole foods that love me back.
This journey isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection.
To my body. To my needs. To the woman I’m becoming.
If you’re on your own journey—whether it’s about weight loss, healing, or simply feeling good in your skin—I hope this encourages you to start with compassion and keep going with intention.
