I love a real good burger with all the trimmings and toppings, but as I have mentioned in one of my previous posts, I am working on being more health conscious so I decided to make turkey burger instead of a traditional beef burger. I have heard some people oppose turkey burgers because it could tend to be dry; however, these were very moist and packing with flavor. I kept it very simple with the use of fresh herbs and dried spices. I didn't use any binding agent as I wanted to keep it healthy. I used the patties for burgers which was made whole wheat sandwich thins, it's about 100 calories per bun so I didn't feel guilty. Also, I diced the patty and used it on top of a mixed greens salad, it was pretty good. The recipe is posted below, I forgot to post a picture of my burger, but nonetheless, here it goes.
Turkey Burger Patties
Ingredients
16 oz ground turkey
2 green onions, finely sliced
2 tsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 tsp fresh thyme leaves, finely chopped
1 celery rib, finely sliced
4 garlic cloves, finely grated
1/4 white onion, finely chopped
1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp granulated onion
1/4 tsp celery seed
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp kosher salt
Method
Preheat oven to 385 degrees.
Lightly grease a flat baking pan, set aside. In a small mixing bowl, thoroughly combine all ingredients until fully incorporated. Form about five turkey patties, place on prepared pan bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven, let cool for about five minutes. Enjoy.
