We decided to take a road on the east side
After we left the North Cape of Öland, we decided to take a road on the east side of the island since we have not been to the east side. It was the right decision that we took the east side of the road. I happened to stop by this beautiful area of the island. There are so many windmills on Öland, and it seems that it is their pride as Ölander. I believe that they do not use these windmills anymore, but many people on the island, build a windmill in their garden. And, Lerkaka is the most beautiful and well-preserved area where we can see many windmills on the island.
On the sign, it says that there are about 2000 windmills on the island since 1800. Now, about 400 windmills are left on the island, and they have become as historic monuments on the island.
It seems that on the east side of the island, the wind is much stronger than on the west side of the island. The strong wind blows from the Baltic sea, and the strong wind has so much effect on their lives on the island. Trees cannot grow tall and there are not so many trees in general. It has such a unique senary on the east side of the island. I personally love the east side of the island better!
エーランド島の北の岬から、カルマル市内へのホテルへ帰り道は島の東側の道路を使って帰ることにしました。 西側には高速の様な道路が南北へ縦断しているのですが、東側の道路は細く、運転に時間がかかるので多くの観光客は西側の道路を使用しているようでした。
島の東側はバルト海からの強い風が吹きつける地域の様で、西側の風景とはまた違った雰囲気がありました。 強く吹き付ける風は木々を大きく成長させることを妨げ、広大な草原が拡がりここが北欧のスウェーデンか全くわからない景色が拡がっていました。
運転しながら気づいたのですが、島中には多くの風車が点在しています。 今は使用している様子はなかったのですが、この風車が島民の誇りとして保存されている雰囲気がありました。 点在していた風車ですが、このLerkaka（レーカーカ）には何棟もの風車が集まって保存されていて、エーランド島で一番美しく保存状態の良い風車がある地域だと分かりました。
またたま東の道を選び、帰ることにしたのですが東側は小さな村を車でドライブし、そしてこのようなきれいな地域を偶然通過すると言ういい思い出が出来ました。
