Hello Hello food lovers!
I am so banging along with the multitasking in November.
Thanks to and her wonderful chart of daily suggestions for Hive Blog Posting Month (aka #HiveBloPoMo) I found out that today November 3rd is ...
wait for it ...
As live in a world that is NOT joined up, I did a wee bit of digging...
Yes today is National Sandwich Day in the US of A, however, in the traditional home of the sandwich, we in the UK have a British Sandwich Week which this year ran from 22nd-28th May
Funnily enough I did have a sandwich this morning, for me elevenses! Now that is another story in itself.
A bacon butty, that is what I call that. Some call it a bacon roll. You could even call it a bacon bap!
What do you call it?
After I had found out about the American sandwich day I was multitasking again in a meeting with the editorial team of and
and asked what the German was for sandwich.
A long debate ensued where I found out that toast can be bread and you can toast that toast to have more toast!
But as for sandwich they don't really say anything directly translatable apart from sandwich or belegtes brot
I did discover that there is a German National Soup Day on November 19th. Winter is coming so that makes sense, no surprise there for our efficient friends from across the North Sea.
Some fun sandwich facts source
- 1762 The Earl of Sandwich
John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, names the sandwich after his town in the county of Kent.- 2006 What is a Sandwich?
A court in Boston, Massachusetts rules that a sandwich includes at least two slices of bread, and does not include burritos, tacos, and quesadillas, as they are typically made with a single tortilla.
I did tell you earlier that today seems to be a day of multitasking, so this post is my third post in the #hiveblopomo challenge for November.
