Olivier Giroud has had a fine season at Chelsea, scoring four goals in 17 Premier League appearances. However, it was especially in the Champions League that the 34-year-old striker seriously delivered the goods. Giroud became Champions League winners Chelsea's top scorer with six goals.
The French striker was heading for a contract expiration, but Chelsea chose to make use of a clause in Giroud's contract, which gave the Frenchman a one-year contract extension. "The Blues" can therefore profit from Giroud's successful season during the summer.
AC Milan are reportedly the most serious suitor, and rumors have long sent Giroud to the Milan club. Now the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport believes to know that Giroud's transfer to AC Milan is a reality over the next 48 hours.
