It goes from bad to worse for Thomas Tuchel and his team. After a hectic week of work, I was lucky enough to be off work today, and coincidentally it happens to be the day we (Chelsea) have a football match. I had a bad feeling about the game earlier today, but I didn't think the performance would be this bad.
Where do I even begin. First off, the team selection today was not a good one by the manager. Starting Kai Havertz yet again, after his woeful start to the season is just beyond me. Ziyech lacked everything today and I was genuinely surprised to see him start ahead of Christian Pulisic. Loftus cheek was not great, and I don't understand why Jorginho still plays for this club. He is so poor. sheesh.
Chelsea players rating
- Mendy (4)- I think it's fairly obvious this man needs some competition. He is way too comfortable in his position. Could have saved the first goal, albeit, nothing he could do about the second.
- Azpilicueta (4) - I reckon he was given a new contract out of respect for what he has done for the club. Poor today. Gave away a silly corner that lead to the opponent's first goal.
- Thiago Silva (7) - Albeit caught out of position a few times, he is legitimately the only positive from today's game for the blues. Capped another colossal performance with a brilliant goal-line clearance.
- Koulibaly (5) - Wasn't too involved in the game.
- Cucurella (4) - Was caught out defensively too many times. Didn't create many goal-scoring chances. BUT credit to him for blocking a goal-bound block to keep the scoreline at 2 -1.
- Loftus cheek (4) - Poor performance from the young lad today.
- Jorginho (3) - Another stinker from the Italian today. Was easily bypassed leading to the second goal.
- Mason mount (4) - Not having a great start to the season him
- Ziyech (4) - Did not look sharp enough o match the pace of the game at any point in time.
- Sterling (6) - Got an early goal for his team, but he could only do so much.
- Kai Havertz (3) - Another poor performance from the young german. Has now been over 400 minutes of football without a goal for him.
I am not even going to mention the subs; except for Armando Broja, none of them made any notable impact.
Well, onto the next one shall wee?!
