“The River of Stars Part 7”
I created this cut paper art and translated it. Actually, I made this cut paper art work and I collaborated with my brother’s artwork for the background. This background is his portrait. I love the color so, I used it for the background.
This scene is a very serious part for this story. The old man who is swallowed by the rainbow trout is suffering inside of the trout. And also, this rainbow trout is suffering because the bear bit it. The color of the rainbow trout is fading on the snow.
I wanted to express the contrast between the faded rainbow trout, and the old man vs the colorful beautiful energetic eagle. Death and life are always next to each other everywhere in natural life cycle. However, I didn’t want to make it too dark. Therefore, I used many colors for this scene even though the story is very sad.
“星の川 パート７”
物語の切り絵を作成し翻訳をしました。切り絵を作成したのはわたしですが、この背景を作成したのは弟です。彼の自画像です。色合いが好きなので、背景に使用しました。
このシーンはとても深刻なシーンです。ニジマスに飲み込まれた年老いた男が、ニジマスの中で苦しみます。ところがそのニジマスも熊に噛まれた痛みで苦しんで雪の上でのたうち回っています。ニジマスの綺麗な色が色褪せていきます。
色褪せていくニジマスと苦しむ年老いた男に対して、明るく力強い色鮮やかな鷲のコントラストを表現しました。自然界の中では死と生は常に隣り合わせです。このシーンは寂しいですが、暗い色使いにせずに明るくカラフルな色合いに仕上げました
