My paint by numbers kit won't be here until January 30th. The coin orders are taking forever and dated letters are showing up late. What the hell happened to the mail?
It didn't used to be like this.
Something mailed from across town can take 3 days or up to 20 days. No rhyme or reason to it. You just wait and hope it shows up eventually. Tracking doesn't help because half the time it says delivered when it isn't or sits on "in transit" for a week without moving.
Mostly USPS but I've noticed other carriers slipping too. Small delays are adding up with nothing you can count on anymore.
I don't know what happened. Budget cuts? Staffing issues? Infrastructure falling apart? All of the above? No idea, but something has broke and nobody seems interested in fixing it.
Used to be you could mail something and have a reasonable expectation of when it would arrive. Now it's a fucking mystery. Could be three days or could be three weeks. Roll the dice and see what happens.
The sporadic part is what gets me. If it was consistently slow you could plan around it. But when it's random you can't plan for anything. You just wait, wonder, and check the mailbox for the tenth time that day like an idiot.
Maybe I'm just old and remembering wrong, but I don't think so. The mail used to work and be on time. Not now and not reliably anyway.
Anyone else dealing with this or is it just my area? How long are things taking to get to you?
Thanks for reading,
Joe
