Before heading to find Liam, we'll go on our reglementary upgrading after a chapter. Once this has been taken out of the way, we'll have some information on this Theodore guy in our room. It seems this guy is a smooth talker and basically a cultist leader. No wonder this place is so screwed!
Time to backtrack. We'll stumble upon more of these altars and weird looking things. It seems Yukiko got a call from Liam and moved to the restricted laboratory area of The Marrow. That's where we are headed then. Just need to take care of some enemies on the way.
After reaching the lab, we'll discover people have been transforming into these monsters, referred as "The Lost", for quite some time. This lab is a research facility to uncover what causes this change in people connected to S.T.E.M.
We'll need to find a brain chip inside a corpse's head to get to the next area.
Exploring more of the lab, we'll find us targeted by The Anima once more. This time we'll have to avoid being seen lest we want to we squashed by some furniture. In this new trip back to memory lane, we'll find some parts of the psychological reports made for Sebastian after his first nightmare at Beacon.
And at the end of this section, we'll find the reason why this things has been lurking around the shadows and trying to get us. There was a part of our mind stuck at Beacon.
There's nothing else to do, but put it to rest. This should stop The Anima from chasing us out of nowhere!
Going back to the door that needed the chip, we'll ourselves in a room with liquid nitrogen tanks and sprinklers. Getting near a door to a safe room, we'll listen to Yukiko speak to someone. Opening the door, she'll be arguing with the enemy with the flamethrower. This is when we find out this is no other than O'Neal. He's been brainwashed by Theodore and transformed into this monster.
This is by far the toughest boss battle in the came. He has long range with his flamethrower and it also leaves terrain damage whenever he attacks. We can use the sprinklers to quench the flames and the nitrogen tanks to freeze him and do some critical damage.
I know there's also the option of shooting the gas tank for the flamethrower to actually cut his range attacks. Overall, it is an enemy that requires lots of bullets to defeat. By the way, he's also the smartest enemy. If he sees a trap, he will destroy instead of triggering it.
Defeating him gives us a hint to find Theodore, we have to destroy a machine O'Neal made for him. By doing this, we can get back to his realm and face him. But for now, this is s sour victory. Only one member of the original rescue team is still alive.
