Saludos mis estimados amigos de Geek Zone, tiempo sin pasar por acá. La verdad es que no he adquirido ningún dispositivo tecnológico recientemente y por falta de tiempo no me he puesto a experimentar con algún juego. Sin embargo, hoy quiero presentar un dispositivo que adquirí hace más de 10 años, si, así como lo leen, han pasado más de 10 años desde que lo compré y puedo decir que se mantiene prácticamente intacto.
La idea de hacer este post no es hacer ninguna promoción a alguna marca, pero creo que este producto merece una publicación, a lo bueno hay que resaltarlo, se trata de mi ipod touch 4th generación. Les cuento que mi padre cuando lo vio hace como tres días se sorprendió mucho, no lo podía creer, ¿aquel ipod que compraste hace años es ese?, me preguntó sorprendido y enseguida me dijo “como te ha durado”. De por si yo soy de las personas que cuida las cosas, aunque la vida útil y el tiempo no perdonan.
La historia de mi ipod
¿Cómo fue que llegó a mí este mini equipo de música?, se lo debo a un gran amigo que trabajaba conmigo, por ser del área de informática fue mi asesor para hacer esta maravillosa compra. Siempre había querido tener un ipod, uno de mis hobbies es escuchar música, además, hacer los quehaceres del hogar escuchando mis melodías favoritas hace que todo sea más fácil y divertido.
En el año 2008 compré mi primer dispositivo de música, era bonito y económico, lo compré por una página llamada mercado libre, imposible recordar el costo, ¿pero que creen?, no me duró nada, así que me quedé sin el a los pocos meses de haberlo adquirido. Dos o tres años después, (no recuerdo bien), me decidí a comprar uno por Amazon y fue allí que mi amigo intervino. Me desvió de la idea de comprar un “MP3 o MP4”, que era solo para escuchar música y nada más, entonces me dijo “no compres ese, compra algo mejor” y me mostró al ipod Touch 4th generación.
Era lo último en el mercado en ese tiempo, no era económico, pero valía la pena por todo lo que trae, lo describo como una mini PC portátil. Creo que su costo fue de 171$, al ser de Apple, no podía ser tan asequible, la calidad cuesta y quedó demostrado.
Características
En líneas generales, para mi sus capacidades estaban bien para la época, (risas). Puedo resaltar funciones básicas como 8 GB de memoria y Bluetooth. No obstante, además de almacenar música, puedo tomar fotos (cuenta con dos cámaras, una frontal y una trasera, la resolución no es muy buena pero es aceptable), con WIFI puedo navegar en internet, ver videos en youtube y explorar las redes sociales. Por supuesto, tiene muchas otras funciones, me atrevo a decir que es como un iphone solo que no puedo llamar, es lo único que le falta. El sistema operativo que usa es IOS, para lo cual hay que tener instalado iTunes para poder sincronizar las músicas, descargar juegos y otras aplicaciones, esto me costó aprenderlo.
Este ipod posee una batería integrada que se conserva muy bien pese al tiempo de tiene y la verdad es que dura mucho cuando escucho música. Como es normal, con los juegos dura un poco menos. Para no dañar la batería he seguido todas las recomendaciones, no dejarla vacía por varios días o al 100% si no lo vamos a usar. Lo mejor es dejarlo con el 50% de batería cuando pasemos un tiempo si prenderlo.
Los accesorios
El ipod vino en una cajita que en su momento era una monada, ya como pueden ver está algo fea lógicamente, trajo un cable USB para cargarlo, una lámina protectora y los audífonos que ya no sirven, la verdad es que no los cuidé. Hoy en día uso unos audífonos alámbricos que compré meses después de empezar la pandemia, también a veces uso los que adquirí con conexión Bluetooth.
No trajo forro, así que pude comprar dos con dificultad en mi país Venezuela, uno lo adquirí en puerto la Cruz, Estado Anzoátegui y el otro en el centro Comercial Sambil, en la isla de Margarita, Estado Nueva Esparta. Ambos pasaron a mejor vida como decimos aquí, la verdad es que pasé un buen tiempo que no usaba el ipod por cuestiones personales y los forros estuvieron guardados por muchísimo tiempo, cuando los saqué se deshicieron como polvo.
Luego puede comprar también por Amazon una funda de silicón con diseño de imitación de Rilakkuma, además de bonita, es muy buena, amortigua bien los golpes por caídas. En ciertos descuidos se me ha caído un par de veces, aunque aclaro que trato de evitar a toda costa que ocurran este tipo de accidentes. La estructura del ipod es bastante delicada y una caída puede ser fatal. La lámina protectora la volví a cambiar, ya estaba rayada y fea, esta que tiene actualmente no está tan fea, pero ha perdido la pega como se puede ver en una de las esquinas.
Mi experiencia
¿Qué puedo decir?, un equipo que ha durado más de 10 años es increíble, hoy en día es una reliquia comparada con la generación que ya está en el mercado, creo que van por el 7th, no estoy muy segura, ando algo alejada de ese mundo. Mi ipod tiene almacenada 226 canciones, varias fotos, videos, juegos, aplicaciones y aún le quedan 3.2 GB disponibles.
Lo que no puedo hacer es ampliar mi repertorio musical, pues mi hermano se llevó el disco duro donde estaban almacenadas todas las canciones y no puedo sincronizarlo para mantener las canciones que ya tengo grabadas. Cuando lo compré había otros de mayor capacidad, 16 GB, 32 GB y hasta 64 GB, si no me equivoco, obvio, entre más capacidad, más costoso, por eso opté por el de 8 GB que para ese entonces me pareció más que suficiente.
Hoy en día puedo disfrutar de este ipod touch 4th generación, uso la alarma de vez en cuando si necesito levantarme muy temprano, muy poco juego por falta de tiempo, realmente lo uso para escuchar música más que todo.

The story of my ipod
How did I get this mini stereo, I owe it to a great friend who worked with me, being from the computer area was my advisor to make this wonderful purchase. I had always wanted to have an ipod, one of my hobbies is listening to music, besides, doing the housework listening to my favorite tunes makes everything easier and more fun.
In 2008 I bought my first music device, it was nice and inexpensive, I bought it through a page called mercado libre, impossible to remember the cost, but what do you think, it didn't last, so I lost it a few months after I bought it. Features
In general terms, for me its capabilities were fine for the time, (laughs). I can highlight basic features like 8 GB of memory and Bluetooth. However, in addition to storing music, I can take pictures (it has two cameras, one front and one rear, the resolution is not very good but it is acceptable), with WIFI I can surf the internet, watch videos on youtube and explore social networks. Of course, it has many other functions, I dare to say that it is like an iphone only I can't call, that's the only thing it lacks. The operating system it uses is IOS, for which you have to have iTunes installed to be able to synchronize music, download games and other applications, this was hard for me to learn.
This ipod has an integrated battery that keeps very well despite the time it has and the truth is that it lasts a lot when I listen to music. As usual, with games it lasts a little less. To avoid damaging the battery I have followed all the recommendations, do not leave it empty for several days or at 100% if we are not going to use it. It is best to leave it with 50% battery when we spend some time without turning it on.
The accessories
The ipod came in a little box that at the time was cute, now as you can see it's a bit ugly logically, it came with a USB cable to charge it, a protective film and the headphones that are no longer useful, the truth is that I didn't take care of them. Nowadays I use wired headphones that I bought months after the pandemic started, I also sometimes use the ones I bought with Bluetooth connection.
It didn't have a cover, so I was able to buy two with difficulty in my country Venezuela, one I acquired in Puerto la Cruz, Anzoátegui State and the other in the Sambil Mall, in Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta State. Both went to a better life as we say here, the truth is that I spent a long time not using the ipod for personal reasons and the covers were stored for a long time, when I took them out they fell apart like dust.
Then you can also buy on Amazon a silicone case with imitation design Rilakkuma, besides beautiful, is very good, well cushions the blows by falls. In some carelessness I have dropped it a couple of times, although I try to avoid this kind of accidents at all costs. The structure of the Ipod is quite delicate and a fall can be fatal. The protective film I changed it again, it was already scratched and ugly, this one is not so ugly, but it has lost the glue as you can see in one of the corners.
My experience with it
What can I say, a device that has lasted more than 10 years is incredible, today is a relic compared to the generation that is already on the market, I think they go for the 7th, I'm not sure, I'm a bit far from that world. My ipod has stored 226 songs, several photos, videos, games, applications and it still has 3.2 GB available.
What I can't do is expand my music repertoire, because my brother took the hard drive where all the songs were stored and I can't synchronize it to keep the songs I already have recorded. When I bought it there were others of greater capacity, 16 GB, 32 GB and up to 64 GB, if I'm not mistaken, obviously, the more capacity, the more expensive, so I opted for the 8 GB which at that time seemed more than enough.
Today I can enjoy this ipod touch 4th generation, I use the alarm from time to time if I need to get up very early, very little game for lack of time, I really use it to listen to music more than anything.
