Greetings Hive Geek community, I'm Nitsu and welcome to my post once again, today I'm going to show you a little bit of my work process for a request that I made and I'm going to tell you what tools I used to carry it out and get a good result.
Saludos comunidad de Hive Geek, soy Nitsu y bienvenidos a mi post una vez más, hoy voy a mostrarles un poco mi proceso de trabajo para un pedido que me hicieron sumado que les voy a comentar que herramientas utilice para llevarlo a cabo y obtener un buen resultado.
A friend of mine managed to finish building her new Gamer PC and wanted to put a GPU bracket on it, but not just any one, she already had in mind one of the characters from how to train your dragon, so she talked to me to ask me if I could make it happen. For those who don't know, GPU brackets are basically a kind of prop for the corner of the graphics card as they tend to sag due to gravity and weight, comparable to grabbing a pizza from the far edge.
Una amiga logro terminar de armar su nueva PC Gamer y quería colocarle un soporte para GPU, pero no uno cualquiera, sino que ya tenia en mente que fuera uno de los personajes de como entrenar a tu dragón, así que me hablo a mi para preguntarme si yo podía hacerlo realidad. Para los que no sepan, los soportes de GPU básicamente son una especie de apuntalamiento para la esquina de las graficas ya que en general tienden a pandear por la gravedad y el peso, comparable a agarrar una pizza desde el borde más alejado.
Normally this happens only with three-fan graphics cards, with two-fan ones not so much but it never hurts to warn and this is because the graphics cards are only supported by the motherboard socket and a screw that fits into the cabinet at the back.
Normalmente esto sucede solo con graficas de tres ventiladores, con las de dos ventiladores no tanto pero nunca esta de más prevenir y esto se debe a que las graficas solo son sostenidas por el socket de la placa madre y un tornillo que se ajusta al gabinete en la parte trasera.
How did I start with this work? Well my friend sent me a reference image to start working, and a base STL file of a night fury that I modified to get the desired results since modeling everything from scratch would be a very arduous job and would make the order very expensive.
¿Cómo comencé con este trabajo? Bueno mi amiga me envió una imagen de referencia para comenzar a trabajar, y un archivo STL base de un furia nocturna que modifique para ir llegando a los resultados deseados ya que modelar todo desde cero seria un trabajo muy arduo y encarecería mucho el pedido.
By means of the reference image and the Mesh mixer program I was eliminating and molding the night fury until turning it into a luminous fury, I removed some warts, horns and also rounded and enlarged the ears, all this using the same program that I mentioned before using different brushes in the sculpting tool section.
Por medio de la imagen de referencia y el programa Mesh mixer fui eliminando y moldeando al furia nocturna hasta convertirlo en un furia luminosa, retire algunas verrugas, cuernos y también redondee y agrande las orejas, todo esto utilizando el mismo programa que anteriormente mencione usando diferentes pinceles en el apartado de la herramienta esculpir.
Once I was satisfied with the result I started the second part, generating the area where the thread would be to place the screw that would hold the corner of the graphic. This screw would allow to regulate the height and support this corner that was in the air and for this I used a free file and I was trying how to place it in tinkercad, a very simple online program.
Una vez quede conforme con el resultado comenzaba la segunda parte, generar el área donde estaría la rosca para colocar el tornillo que permitiera sostener la esquina de la gráfica. Este tornillo permitiría regular la altura y apuntalar esta esquina que quedaba en el aire y para esto utilice un archivo gratuito y fui probando como ubicarlo en el tinkercad, un programa online muy sencillo.

I for example have two phrases of life ''If it's not broken, do not fix it'' (Which I say and do not comply haha) and on the other hand ''Simple problems, simple tools'' which applies perfectly to this case, so with a little patience I was verifying heights and position to join both STLs. In the meantime I took the opportunity and also built a GPU holder of the night fury, taking advantage of having the original file and already thinking about the possibility of later selling them on the CULTS platform, a well known page in the field of 3D printing to sell files and get a little more profit from this work in the long term.
Yo por ejemplo tengo dos frases de vida ´´Si no esta roto, no lo arregles´´ (Lo cual digo y no cumplo jaja) y por otro lado ´´Problemas sencillos, herramientas sencillas´´ lo cual aplica perfectamente para este caso, así que con un poco de paciencia fui verificando alturas y posición para unir ambos STLs. Mientras tanto aproveche y también arme un GPU holder del furia nocturna, aprovechando que tenia el archivo original y ya pensando en la posibilidad de posteriormente venderlos en la plataforma CULTS, una pagina muy conocida en el ámbito de la impresión 3D para vender archivos y sacar un poco más de redito a este trabajo en un largo plazo.
Once I had the file ready I showed it to my friend and she gave me the go ahead to print it, using my trusted laminator CURA (a program to configure 3D parts) I placed the supports I thought necessary, selected the print quality and speed so that after about 13 hours of printing the raw part came out. I had to remove the supports, give a first coat of acrylic and go painting to get the result you see in these last images.
Una vez tenia el archivo listo se lo mostré a mi amiga y me dio el visto bueno para imprimirlo, utilizando mi laminador de confianza el CURA (Un programa para configurar piezas en 3D) coloque los soportes que creí necesarios, seleccione la calidad de impresión y la velocidad para que luego de unas 13hs de impresión saliera la pieza en bruto. Me toco retirar los soportes, dar una primera capa de acrílico e ir pintando para llegar al resultado que ven en estas últimas imágenes.

I have been very pleased with the final result and the resolving power I had for this order, plus I have the base files left that I have put up for sale on CULTS and have already had the opportunity to earn a few extra dollars.
Me he quedado muy conforme con el resultado final y con el poder de resolución que tuve para este pedido, sumado que me quedaron los archivos base que he puesto a la venta en CULTS y ya he tenido la oportunidad de ganar algunos dólares extras.
