[ENG|ESP] The first date of the year. We discovered a new place. | La primera cita del año. Conocimos un nuevo lugar.

¡Hola Hola mis queridos amigos de Hive espero tengan un feliz inicio de semana. Les quiero comentar que este año mi esposo y yo nos hicimos una promesa sencilla, pero muy especial: regalarnosal menos una cita al año, salir de la rutina de estar solo en casa y del trabajo, y de esa manera conocer un lugar nuevo para comer. No se trataba de volvernos locos y gastar o buscar algo lujoso ni planificado al detalle, sino de crear recuerdos juntos y disfrutar del momento. Desde que empezó el año, había un antojo claro rondándonos la cabeza: queríamos comer pollo asado. No sabíamos dónde no teníamos tampoco un lugar específico en mente, solo sabíamos que queríamos sentarnos juntos a comer un buen asado y pasarla bien.

Hello, hello, my dear friends at Hive. I hope you're having a great start to the week. I want to tell you that this year, my husband and I made a simple but very special promise to each other: to treat ourselves to at least one date a year, to break out of the routine of being alone at home and at work, and to discover a new place to eat. It wasn't about going crazy and spending a lot of money or looking for something luxurious or planned down to the last detail, but rather about creating memories together and enjoying the moment. Since the beginning of the year, we had a clear craving on our minds: we wanted to eat roast chicken. We didn't know where to go, nor did we have a specific place in mind, we just knew that we wanted to sit down together to eat a good roast and have a good time.

Así que el día que cayó nuestra quincena, sin pensarlo demasiado, decidimos que ese sería el día de nuestra primera cita del año. Nos fuimos en la moto con esa emoción bonita de cuando no sabes exactamente que va a pasar, pero sabes que algo bueno viene. Salimos de nuestro pueblito y cruzamos el puente en busca de ese lugar que cumpliera nuestro deseo. Lo curioso fue que encontrar pollo asado resulto ser más difícil de lo que esperábamos Pasábamos por un sitio tras otro: restaurantes, puestos de comida, locales de todo tipo, pero nada de pollo asado. Ya la cosa se nos hacía cómica, pensando que tal vez ese día no era de comer pollo.

Hasta que, por fin, vimos el letrero: Pollos Deivys. Y fue automático pensar "Obviamente aquí deben vender pollo asado". Sin dudarlo, entramos. Para nuestra felicidad, sí, efectivamente vendían pollo asado. Nos sentamos, pedimos con hambre y emoción, y esperamos. La comida llegó relativamente rápido ¿Qué serían? ¿unos 20 minutos? La verdad se sintió bastante rápido.

So, on the day we got our paycheck, without thinking too much about it, we decided that would be the day of our first date of the year. We set off on the motorcycle with that wonderful feeling you get when you don't know exactly what's going to happen, but you know something good is coming. We left our little town and crossed the bridge in search of that place that would fulfill our desire. The funny thing was that finding roast chicken turned out to be more difficult than we expected. We passed by one place after another: restaurants, food stalls, all kinds of establishments, but no roast chicken. It was starting to get comical, thinking that maybe that day was not a day for eating chicken.

Until, finally, we saw the sign: Pollos Deivys. And it was automatic to think, “Obviously they must sell roast chicken here.” Without hesitation, we went in. To our delight, yes, they did indeed sell roast chicken. We sat down, ordered hungrily and excitedly, and waited. The food arrived relatively quickly. What was it? About 20 minutes? It really felt pretty fast.

Pedimos un pollo entero que venia con arepitas, patacones, ensalada y refresco que según la mesera, ese día era gratis (supuestamente jajaja). Además, pedimos una orden de papas fritas aparte, porque nunca es suficiente comida jajaja. Cuando vimos llegar ese pollo a la mesa, nos miramos y pensamos ¿Qué fue lo que hicimos?. Era muchísisimo pollo, una pieza enoorme. Comimos, disfrutamos, repetimos y aún así sobró tanto que nos lo llevamos para la casa y terminó siendo nuestro almuerzo del día siguiente y hasta con ese almuerzo quedamos sumamente satisfechos así que valió bastante la pena jajaja.

We ordered a whole chicken that came with arepas, patacones, salad, and a soft drink, which, according to the waitress, was free that day (supposedly, ha ha ha). We also ordered a side of French fries, because you can never have enough food, ha ha ha. When we saw that chicken arrive at the table, we looked at each other and thought, “What have we done?” It was a huge amount of chicken, one enormous piece. We ate, we enjoyed it, we had seconds, and even then there was so much left over that we took it home and it ended up being our lunch the next day. We were extremely satisfied with that lunch too, so it was well worth it, ha ha ha.

Todo estuvo divino. El pollo bien sazonado, jugoso; las arepas crujientes, las papas perfectas. Pero más allá de la comida lo mejor fue el momento. Reímos, conversamos, nos desconectamos un poco de la rutina diaria y disfrutamos de esa primera cita que tanto habíamos esperado. Fue simple, fue espontánea, fue perfectaa.

Esta primera cita nos recordó lo importante que es detenerse, salir de lo cotidiano y seguir eligiéndose. Ojalá podamos seguir cumpliendo esta promesa cada año, creando nuevas historias, nuevos sabores y más recuerdos juntos.

Porque a final, no se trata de solo de a donde vamos, sino de con quien compartimos el camino... y la mesa❤️

Everything was divine. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy; the arepas were crispy, the potatoes were perfect. But beyond the food, the best part was the moment itself. We laughed, we talked, we disconnected a little from our daily routine, and we enjoyed that first date we had been waiting for so long. It was simple, it was spontaneous, it was perfect.

This first date reminded us how important it is to pause, step away from the everyday, and continue choosing each other. Hopefully, we can continue to fulfill this promise every year, creating new stories, new flavors, and more memories together.

Because in the end, it's not just about where we go, but who we share the journey with... and the table❤️
