This 2022 was a beautiful year of personal growth for me and what better way to end it than visiting one of the places that make me happiest in the world, my maternal grandmother's house in the Venezuelan western plains 🐮.
Esta casa queda en un pintoresco pueblo llamado "San Rafael de Onoto" en el Estado Portuguesa y aquí viví muchos momentos geniales y hermosos durante mi infancia, cada año era mucho más difícil visitar a mi abuela bien sea por motivos monetarios o de transporte, así que pasamos de hacerlo anualmente a hacerlo cada 3 años o más, la última vez que vine fue en el año 2019 junto a mi mamá, para ese entonces a mi abuelita ya se le estaban olvidando ciertas cosas, pero aún me recordaba. Durante esta reciente visita todo fue muy diferente ya que no recuerda nada del presente y aparte perdió la visión, pero aún conserva su excelente sentido del humor que tanto la caracteriza ❤️ Aparte de que está rodeada de amor y buenas atenciones.
This house is in a picturesque town called "San Rafael de Onoto" in Portuguesa State and here I lived many great and beautiful moments during my childhood, every year it was much more difficult to visit my grandmother either for monetary or transportation reasons, so we went from doing it annually to do it every 3 years or more, the last time I came was in 2019 with my mom, by then my grandmother was already forgetting certain things, but she still remembered me. During this recent visit everything was very different since she does not remember anything of the present and besides she lost her vision, but she still keeps her excellent sense of humor that characterizes her so much ❤️ Apart from that she is surrounded by love and good attentions.
Amo este lugar porque siempre estuvo repleto de árboles y muchos animales, sobre todo aves, mi abuela amaba con locura las aves y logró tener una colección de más de 50 especies, pasión que cuando niña me gustaba, pero ya de grande comprendí que no es lo más justo para estos animalitos, eso sí, mi abuela les daba todos los cuidados necesarios y mucho amor. A medida que fue envejeciendo disminuyeron también la cantidad de aves, las últimas en desaparecer fueron sus amadas guacamayas que murieron de tristeza ya que mi abuela era su mejor amiga, pero esa es otra historia que les contaré en otro momento. Hoy quiero contarles sobre las cosas geniales que más amo del llano y que me encantó poder hacer durante el último día del 2022 y el primero del 2023.
I love this place because it was always full of trees and many animals, especially birds, my grandmother loved birds madly and managed to have a collection of more than 50 species, passion that as a child I liked, but when I grew up I understood that it is not the fairest thing for these animals, yes, my grandmother gave them all the necessary care and love. As she got older, the number of birds also decreased, the last ones to disappear were her beloved macaws that died of sadness since my grandmother was their best friend, but that is another story that I will tell you another time. Algo que me encanta es despertar temprano y tomar guarapo recién colado de mi abuelita junto a unas buenas arepas con huevo criollo, tarea que al no poder seguir realizando mi abuela, le quedó delegada a mi tía jajaja yo acostumbro a tomar café sin azúcar pero aquí el guarapo es más azúcar que café 😂 quizás me encanta porque me recuerda a mi feliz infancia.
Something I love is to wake up early and drink freshly brewed guarapo from my grandmother along with some good arepas with Creole eggs, a task that my grandmother could no longer do, so it was delegated to my aunt hahaha I usually drink coffee without sugar but here the guarapo is more sugar than coffee 😂 maybe I love it because it reminds me of my happy childhood.
Otra cosa que siempre he disfrutado, como buena amante de los animales, ha sido toda la gran variedad de mascotas que había, hubo una época en la que tenían gansos, pavos reales, chivos, ovejas y pare de contar, ya no hay casi animales por la misma situación de mi abuela, pero de igual manera pude disfrutar de la compañía de los que quedan ❤️

Como el viaje solo fue de un día me faltaron muchas cosas por hacer y ya que estaré una temporada viviendo en Valencia, una ciudad bastante próxima al estado Portuguesa, pretendo volver con más frecuencia. El 31 de diciembre pasó tan rápido que no tuve oportunidad de cambiarme así que recibí el año en licras deportivas y mi super suéter de hive 😂 Y aquí voy con otra de las cosas que me encantan de este pueblo y es exactamente eso, su vibra de pueblo jajaja es muy pintoresco todo, hay una plaza con una iglesia grande y este es el epicentro de todos los comercios y vida de la localidad, para estas fechas estaba decorada de una manera muy llamativa y creo que el 90% de los habitantes estaba allí esperando que fuesen las 12 jaja eso sí, demasiada pirotecnia para mi gusto.
As the trip was only one day I missed a lot of things to do and since I will be living in Valencia, a city quite close to Portuguesa state, I intend to come back more often. December 31 went by so fast that I didn't have a chance to change so I welcomed the year in sporty lycra and my super hive sweater 😂 And here I go with another of the things I love about this town and that's exactly it, its small town vibe hahaha it's very picturesque everything, there is a square with a big church and this is the epicenter of all the stores and life of the town, for these dates it was decorated in a very striking way and I think 90% of the inhabitants were there waiting for it to be 12 haha yes, too much pyrotechnics for my taste.
Retornamos a casa el primero de enero a eso de las 3pm, pero no sin antes degustar una buena hallaca llanera acompañada de yuca recién cosechada, cabe destacar que la noche anterior tenía tanta hambre que no le tomé foto a la cena 😂 solo les diré que me comí doble porción de todo, incluso comí más que mi papá y todos estaban asombrados jajaja es que estaba muy feliz de estar allí y la felicidad me da hambre 😂😂
