This was originally intended as a test shot but the remotely triggered flashgun didn't fire but it looked all the better for it:
You can create this effect by taking fine grade steel wool purchased from a hardware store and bundle some of it into an egg whisk. The egg whisk is then spun at high speed on a cord and the sparks will fly everywhere.
Please note that this is dangerous and must be done safely and in non flammable locations! There has been one or two incidences over the years where this technique has resulted in buildings been burnt down. We only do this because we are experienced lighpainters with the right equipment and proper risk assessment!
