"The Mamosians bridge the worlds of Dance and Dub music, creating a sound they call Alternative EDM"
A couple of years ago now and myself met up with a musical group called the Mamosians, who's lead singer had seen Chris' lightpainting shots and wanted to shoot with us to see if we could create them some creative shots.
Well, Challenge Accepted..
Entering The Twilight Zone
The first shot was a double exposure with a simple red gelled flash but double exposed to put inside the hood of one of the singers. The lens was then zoomed out twice and the flash shot to give this trippy image.
The Grey Woman of the Tunnel
After this we have more traditional backlit shots in the tunnel. The below shot was taken without smoke but created a nice but eerie silhouette..
Group Shots
And we had some pretty cool group shots too. To be fair the three were natural performers and posing came naturally too them so by no means was this a difficult shoot. I had the fun job too being on smoke patrol creating ambience and experimenting with different coloured gels..
Happy Little Accident
But my favourite and by far coolest shot of the night was accidentally walking back to my camera with the torch still on, which in a lot of ways I felt added to the final shot so was definitely a keeper!
As a photographer I try to mix what I do in my shots, I've done still life, some macro work, lightpainting and I enjoy a good model shoot. If you'd like to check out any of my other work I'm on Facebook, or you can find me on Instagram under neilru75
