📈🤸🏼A practical guide to mastering your first handstand
Hello everyone in this amazing #Hive and #SWC community! I hope each of you is consistently progressing in your training, getting stronger every day, and achieving your personal goals. Today I want to share a short tutorial or practical guide on how to start working on the handstand.
This movement is considered an intermediate-level exercise, although many of the exercises used to learn it can be classified as basic or preparatory. If you practice it several times a week, with discipline and patience, you will master it with ease and control. Some exercises require considerable strength, while others are done with assistance, especially using a wall for support.
On this occasion, I was at my friend
's house, where some young athletes were practicing calisthenics. He was giving them a class, and I took the opportunity to help the guys specifically with their handstand practice. I showed them how I learned it, based on my personal experience. We started with wall-assisted handstands, gradually releasing our feet and transitioning between positions such as full, straddle, and half handstands. We held each position for about 10 seconds and then repeated the sequence. Then we moved on to strength-based attempts, starting from the "frog" position, aiming to raise ourselves into the handstand with control. I highly recommend these exercises for beginners. If you already have the basics down, in future sessions we can explore more advanced progressions.
