Apreciados lectores, el compromiso es el motor que nos impulsa a seguir adelante incluso cuando el resto del mundo se prepara para celebrar. Cerca del mediodía, mi alumno Ronnield me escribió por mensaje de texto para comentarme muy emocionado que deseaba entrenar hoy, a pesar de ser 31 de diciembre. Mi alumno ha demostrado una disciplina y entusiasmo sin igual en los últimos meses, y su mensaje fue el recordatorio perfecto de que el progreso no conoce de calendarios.
Sin dudarlo, nos citamos en el lugar de siempre. Apenas llegamos al parque de barras, nos dispusimos a realizar nuestras rutinas bajo el sol del mediodía. Mientras la ciudad se sumergía en los preparativos de la cena de fin de año, nosotros nos enfocábamos en la tensión de las barras. Para continuar con su desarrollo técnico, le asigné realizar varios holds de elbow lever y sus variantes, buscando que dominara el equilibrio y la fuerza de soporte en los antebrazos.
Por mi parte, decidí cerrar el ciclo anual con un elemento de empuje que requiere máxima concentración. Yo realicé varios holds de straddle planche enfocándome en realizarlo con la mejor técnica posible. Cada segundo de aguante fue una declaración de intenciones para el año que viene: mantener la cadera alineada, los codos bloqueados y una protracción escapular sólida. Sentir la fuerza fluyendo en este último entrenamiento del año fue una sensación sumamente gratificante.
Terminamos la sesión agotados pero satisfechos, sabiendo que hemos dado nuestro máximo esfuerzo hasta el último minuto del año. Ver la evolución de Ronnield y sentir mi propia progresión es el mejor regalo que puedo recibir en estas fechas. Dear readers, commitment is the engine that drives us to keep going even when the rest of the world is preparing to celebrate. Around noon, my student Ronnield texted me to tell me very excitedly that he wanted to train today, despite it being December 31st. My student has shown unparalleled discipline and enthusiasm in recent months, and his message was the perfect reminder that progress knows no calendars.
Without hesitation, we met at our usual spot. As soon as we arrived at the bars park, we set out to perform our routines under the midday sun. While the city was immersed in preparations for the New Year's Eve dinner, we focused on the tension of the bars. To continue with his technical development, I assigned him to perform several elbow lever holds and their variants, seeking for him to master balance and support strength in the forearms.
For my part, I decided to close the annual cycle with a pushing element that requires maximum concentration. I performed several straddle planche holds, focusing on doing it with the best possible technique. Every second of the hold was a statement of intent for the coming year: keeping the hips aligned, the elbows locked, and a solid scapular protraction. Feeling the strength flowing in this last training session of the year was a highly gratifying sensation.
We finished the session exhausted but satisfied, knowing that we gave our maximum effort until the last minute of the year. Seeing Ronnield's evolution and feeling my own progression is the best gift I can receive during these dates. We said goodbye with a firm handshake, ready to welcome the new year with more strength than ever.
