Prioritizing technique in Half and strengthening Touch at home with
🔋✨
Today I'm going to talk about a calisthenics workout I did at 's house on February 18th of this year. This time, I focused on working on the static front lever. I dedicated the session to improving my strength, presses, static pull-ups, and touch. In this post, I'll tell you all the details about this strengthening process. You'll see all this and more below. Without further ado, let's begin.
For the main part of the routine, I focused on performing a combination of pulling and lever movements. My objective was to execute a 1+1 scheme accompanied by three presses. This consisted of a pull-up to touch in the half position, followed by a regular pull-up and three presses in the same progression. Although I initially tried to perform this combo in the full front lever, I noticed that I struggled to make contact with the bar and couldn't achieve the desired execution. For this reason, I decided to switch to the half progression, where I felt much more comfortable and in control.
Afterward, I worked a volume block focused on pull-ups to touch. In each set, I progressively increased the number of repetitions. I started with five repetitions of the advanced front lever, then increased to six, and finally reached seven repetitions in the last set. At the end of each set, I included an isometric hold to maximize time under tension. Although I felt the fatigue typical of the exercise, the results were positive for building the necessary back strength. It's essential to work on these foundations to transfer strength to more difficult progressions.
To close the session, I did specific strengthening work, emphasizing isolated touch exercises. I also included some weighted pull-ups to enhance explosive pulling power. I finished the workout late at night, feeling satisfied that I had stuck to my routine despite not being at my best. I understand that consistency is the only way to regain the fluidity I'm looking for in my static holds. I will continue sharing my progress and future workouts with all of you. Don't miss my next posts.
