Una introducción necesaria
Este día nos citamos los trabajadores del Instituto de Geología y Paleontología/Servicio Geológico de Cuba, en el Hotel Comodoro, situado en La Habana, Cuba, para festejar los resultados alcanzados y despejar de todos nuestros problemas y escaseces, luego de estos años de dura pandemia.
Breves Culturales, sobre la Geología.
La Geología es la ciencia que estudia el desarrollo interno del planeta, su composición y desarrollo. Varias son las ramas que la conforman y muchas de ellas están presente en mi centro de trabajo.
Entre otras, podemos mencionar las siguientes: Geofísica, Geología ambiental, Geoprocesamiento, Cartografía Geológica, Geología Regional, Petrografía, Yacimientos minerales, Hidrogeología y Paleontología.
Nuestro centro tiene una importancia capital, para el desarrollo socioeconómico del país, pues, nos encargamos de desarrollar proyectos de investigación dirigidos, entre otras cosas, a determinar el potencial minero del país, los lugares donde estos se encuentran y las posibilidades de su extracción.
**Nuestra Visión **
Ser un centro de referencia para las ciencias geológicas en el área de América Latina y el Caribe.
La Misión.
Generar y proveer conocimientos geológicos al país, como Servicio Geológico de Cuba.
**Funciones generales del Instituto de Geología y Paleontología: **
• Incrementar el conocimiento geológico básico del territorio nacional y promover el desarrollo de sus recursos minerales sólidos.
• Generalizar y evaluar sistemáticamente la información geológica del país y confeccionar los mapas geológicos de diferentes escalas y contenidos con fines científicos, prácticos y didácticos. Confeccionar y editar monografías, informes y artículos con igual fin.
• Desarrollar investigaciones sobre la tectónica, el magmatismo, la estratigrafía, la paleontología, el metamorfismo y otros elementos básicos de la geología de Cuba.
• Realizar investigaciones metalogénicas y mineragénicas para precisar el pronóstico de los recursos minerales del país, definiendo sobre estas bases las perspectivas para descubrir nuevos yacimientos minerales, así como proponer las direcciones principales de los trabajos de prospección geológica para los minerales sólidos, aguas minerales y fangos medicinales.
• Promover y divulgar nuevos datos sobre la geología y los recursos minerales de Cuba, mediante la organización de cursos de postgrado, conferencias, seminarios y otros eventos científicos.
• Promover el desarrollo de museos geológicos con fines investigativos, didácticos y expositivos.
• Desarrollar la colaboración y cooperación científico técnica con instituciones afines y en el marco de programas internacionales, principalmente de América Latina y el Caribe.
• Controlar la actividad geológica en el país.
En este día muchas fueron las motivaciones de los trabajadores de nuestra institución, para festejar el Día del Trabajador Geólogo-Minero que nos hacen sentir orgullo de trabajar en el Instituto de Geología y Paleontología, Servicio Geológico de Cuba.
Entre otras, podemos señalar las siguientes:
•55 años de arduo trabajo, en aras de dar a conocer el tesoro geológico del país
•Celebración de la Jornada por el 55 aniversario del IGP/SGC que tuvo como colofón la celebración del acto el 21 de julio, en esta propia institución.
•Cumplimiento de todas las etapas de los proyectos de Investigación y Desarrollo
•Evaluación satisfactoria en los controles y auditorías realizadas a nuestro centro, lo que nos ha permitido; entre otras cosas, mantener certificada la contabilidad.
•Cumplimiento de los objetivos propuestos en la gestión de la colaboración internacional y la superación de los recursos humanos.
•Se ha logrado mantener el trabajo de los objetivos de la Actividad Geológica y se evidencia un incremento en el cumplimiento de los objetivos del plan
La Actividad
La actividad comenzó a las 10.00Am, con las palabras de felicitación de la directora general a todos los trabajadores. Antes de esto se les dio a los trabajadores un coctel de bienvenida, un café y una merienda.
En la actividad hubo música, venta de cerveza y ron, juegos de participación y reconocimientos. A las 12 del día se sirvió un buen almuerzo que fue del agrado de todos los trabajadores.
La actividad se hizo, en la parte de la playa y muchos trabajadores se bañaron. De igual manera se hizo Karaoke en el que algunos trabajadores mostraron sus condiciones como cantantes.
Una reflexión final.
Fue un momento de diversión y reflexión, porque hemos logrado mucho, pero es bastante lo que nos toca por hacer.
Nuestro centro trabaja por buscar nuevas inversiones y proyectos que potencien el desarrollo geológico y económico del país.
Esta actividad sirvió, para confraternizar e intercambiar, sobre las potencialidades de nuestros investigadores y las posibilidades de seguir aportando al desarrollo del país.

A necessary introduction
Every October 24, in Cuba we celebrate the Day of the Mining Geologist Worker. It is a day of celebration and reflection for all researchers and workers. On this date the workers of the sector take stock of what has been done in our daily work and we propose new goals and objectives. But, beyond all this, it is a day of celebration.
On this day we, the workers of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology/Cuban Geological Survey, meet at the Comodoro Hotel, located in Havana, Cuba, to celebrate the results achieved and to clear all our problems and shortages, after these years of hard pandemic.
Cultural Briefs, about Geology.
Geology is the science that studies the internal development of the planet, its composition and development. There are several branches that make it up and many of them are present in my work center. Among others, we can mention the following: Geophysics, Environmental Geology, Geoprocessing, Geological Cartography, Regional Geology, Petrography, Mineral Deposits, Hydrogeology and Paleontology.
Our center is of capital importance for the socioeconomic development of the country, since we are in charge of developing research projects aimed, among other things, at determining the mining potential of the country, the places where they are found and the possibilities of their extraction.

To be a reference center for geological sciences in the area of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Our Mission
To generate and provide geological knowledge to the country, as the Geological Survey of Cuba.
**General functions of the Institute of Geology and Paleontology: **
To increase the basic geological knowledge of the country.
To increase the basic geological knowledge of the national territory and promote the development of its solid mineral resources.
To systematically generalize and evaluate the geological information of the country and prepare geological maps of different scales and contents for scientific, practical and didactic purposes. To prepare and edit monographs, reports and articles for the same purpose.
To develop research on tectonics, magmatism, stratigraphy, paleontology, metamorphism and other basic elements of Cuba's geology.
To carry out metallogenic and mineralogenic research to specify the prognosis of the country's mineral resources, defining on these bases the prospects for discovering new mineral deposits, as well as to propose the main directions of geological prospecting works for solid minerals, mineral waters and medicinal muds.
Promote and disseminate new data on the geology and mineral resources of Cuba, through the organization of postgraduate courses, conferences, seminars and other scientific events.
Promote the development of geological museums for research, didactic and exhibition purposes.
To develop scientific and technical collaboration and cooperation with related institutions and within the framework of international programs, mainly in Latin America and the Caribbean.
To control geological activity in the country.
On this day many were the motivations of the workers of our institution, to celebrate the Day of the Geologist-Mining Worker that make us feel proud to work in the Institute of Geology and Paleontology, Geological Survey of Cuba.
Among others, we can point out the following:** ** 55 years of hard work
55 years of hard work, in order to make known the geological treasure of the country.
Celebration of the 55th anniversary of the IGP/SGC, which culminated in the celebration of the event on July 21, in this institution.
Completion of all stages of Research and Development projects.
Satisfactory evaluation in the controls and audits carried out at our center, which has allowed us, among other things, to keep our accounting certified.
Fulfillment of the objectives proposed in the management of international collaboration and the improvement of human resources.
We have been able to maintain the work of the Geological Activity objectives and there is evidence of an increase in the fulfillment of the objectives of the plan.
The Activity
The activity began at 10.00Am, with congratulatory words from the general director to all the workers. Before this, the workers were given a welcome cocktail, coffee and a snack.
During the activity there was music, sale of beer and rum, participation games and awards. At 12:00 noon, a good lunch was served, which was enjoyed by all the workers.
The activity took place on the beach and many workers bathed. Karaoke was also performed in which some workers showed their abilities as singers.
A final reflection.
It was a moment of fun and reflection, because we have achieved a lot, but there is still a lot to do.
Our center is working to seek new investments and projects that will enhance the geological and economic development of the country.
This activity served to fraternize and exchange about the potential of our researchers and the possibilities of continuing to contribute to the development of the country.
