La navidad es una época de felicidad y completa alegría. A veces con algo de nostalgia, sobre todo si los seres queridos no se encuentran cerca de nosotros para compartirla. Normalmente, nos encontramos inmersos en tareas cotidianas que son parte de la preparación de esa noche especial para compartir con los que amamos.

Yo debería estar reseñando el cómo fue mi noche de navidad, en este caso junto a mi hijo, pero hay una situación que me ocupó los días después del 24 y que vengo a contarles hoy por acá.

Las hormigas son unas visitantes fijas en cualquier cocina que se respete jajaja. Si, triste decirlo, pero estas diminutas habitantes de la naturaleza, que en momentos imagino tienen y cumplen un papel importante en la cadena natural, muchas veces se convierten en dolores de cabeza extremos cuando llegan a instalarse en nuestras cocinas o cualquier otra parte del hogar.

Llegan a ser una molestia tan grande pues por dónde quiera que mires allí, hay un caminito de hormigas que luego se convierten en algo mayor. Toda una pesadilla difícil de imaginar hasta que te toca vivirla.

Fue en ese momento que recordé a mi querida amiga Hive account@tejimundo, cuando en una publicación que pueden ver aquì, relató su pesadilla con las hormigas que en ese entonces invadieron su hogar. Y allí entendí su desesperación cuando esto le sucedió. Una cosa es contarlo y otra vivirlo. En realidad algo horrible desde todo punto de vista.

Christmas is a time of happiness and complete joy. Sometimes with some nostalgia, especially if loved ones are not near us to share it. Normally, we find ourselves immersed in daily tasks that are part of the preparation for that special night to share with the ones we love.

I should be reviewing how my Christmas night was, in this case with my son, but there is a situation that occupied me the days after the 24th, and that I come to tell you here today.

Ants are regular visitors in any self-respecting kitchen hahaha. Yes, sad to say, but these tiny inhabitants of nature, which at times I imagine have and fulfill an important role in the natural chain, often become extreme headaches when they come to settle in our kitchens or any other part of the home.

They become such a nuisance because wherever you look there, there is a path of ants that then become something bigger. It's a nightmare that is hard to imagine until you have to live it.

It was at that moment that I remembered my dear friend Hive account@tejimundo when in a publication that you can see here, she recounted her nightmare with the ants that invaded her home at that time. And there I understood her desperation when this happened to her. It is one thing to tell it and another to live it. Something horrible from every point of view.

Luego del 24 de diciembre, después que preparamos comida alusiva al momento, como todo el tiempo, limpié profundamente la cocina. Siempre mantengo esta costumbre pues, alrededor de mi casa, hay muchos árboles frutales en los que conviven, además de los tantos pajaritos del lugar, animalitos como las hormigas.

Había visto una que otra hormiguita por ahí (lo cual no me pareció alarmante) pero al día siguiente, comenzó la pesadilla negra. Así la llamo yo porque la clase de hormiga era de las negras, que al igual que las demás, pican horriblemente e invaden todos los sitios imaginados y los que no lo son tanto también.

Ver esta nube de hormigas en la pared, en unas filas increíblemente organizadas, por todos lados, me hizo estallar en pánico y comenzar a tratar de eliminarlas.

Lastimosamente en el momento inicial, no contaba con ningún tipo de insecticida o algo parecido y eché mano del poco vinagre que quedaba en casa en ese momento pues, las muy condenadas me tomaron desprevenida ante su abrupta llegada.

Poco a poco y por consejo de mi madre, empecé a seguir los caminos de esto diminutos seres que lamentablemente habían invadido de forma sensacional (exagerada) mi cocina. Había caminos de hormigas por todos lados e iban desde el mesón de la cocina subiendo por la pared hacia el techo, saliendo por la ventana del sitio en masas y más masas de estos animalitos.

After December 24, after we prepared food allusive to the moment, like all the time, I cleaned the kitchen thoroughly. I always keep this habit because, around my house, there are many fruit trees where, besides the many little birds of the place, there live little animals like ants.

I had seen one or two little ants around (which did not seem alarming to me) but the next day, the black nightmare began. That's what I call it because the kind of ant was the black kind, which like the others, stings horribly and invades all the imaginary places and those that are not so imaginary as well.

Seeing this cloud of ants on the wall, in incredibly organized rows, all over the place, made me burst into panic and start trying to eliminate them.

Unfortunately, at the initial moment, I didn't have any kind of insecticide or something similar and I used the little vinegar that was left at home at that moment because the doomed ants took me unawares before their abrupt arrival.

Little by little and on my mother's advice, I began to follow the paths of these tiny beings that unfortunately had invaded my kitchen in a sensational (exaggerated) way. There were ant trails everywhere and they went from the kitchen counter up the wall to the ceiling, out the window of the place in masses and masses of these little critters.

Siempre he admirado la capacidad de organización que tienen estos seres vivos, es increíble. Es como si tuvieran un cerebro pensante que dirigiera su conducta en grupo. Actúan juntas y eso sí, organizadas, eso fue lo que pude observar en esos días en que en mi mente, como diría mi hijo, solo existían las hormigas invasoras.

Las traté de exterminar o alejarlas con alcohol y que va, seguro se rieron de mí porque allí seguían su camino, campantes y sonantes, como se dice en lenguaje coloquial que significa seguir frescas y sin preocupaciones ante lo que yo les estaba rociando para intentar exterminarlas. Luego pasé trapos con vinagre y observé que algunas morían, más era tanta la invasión, que me rendí en ese momento pues vi que no era suficiente. Había que pensar en otra táctica más fuerte y certera.

Mucha gente duda de la eficacia de los insecticidas en la actualidad, sobre todo porque se supone que ya no se fabrican con la misma calidad de antes. Sin embargo, me dije a mi misma que había que probar y que esta invasión tenía que parar pues, sino, las hormigas podían terminar desalojándome de mi hogar, imagínense ustedes tal situación.

Me fui al día siguiente a comprar un insecticida para el exterminio sensacional también. Compré el insecticida para insectos de tipo rastrero y vaya que me sorprendí con el precio (5 $), pero hice el sacrificio y lo compré, además del frasco de vinagre para hacer la terapia de combate completa.

Solo sé que le puse Fe al insecticida y comencé ese día a colocarlo en la parte desde donde entraban en la ventana y por toda la orilla del mesón. Eran muchísimas, una cantidad impresionante. Algunas me picaron y me dio alergia, pero no podía amilanarme ante ellas pues debía ganar esta lucha y desalojarlas. El insecticida comenzó a surtir efecto y empezaron a caer del techo y de los caminitos que tenían en la pared.

I have always admired the organizational capacity of these living things, it is incredible. It is as if they have a thinking brain that directs their group behavior. They act together and that yes, organized, that was what I could observe in those days when in my mind, as my son would say, only the invading ants existed.

I tried to exterminate them or drive them away with alcohol and they surely laughed at me because they were still going on their way, as they say in colloquial language, which means to remain fresh and without worries before what I was spraying them with to try to exterminate them. Then I passed rags with vinegar and I observed that some of them died, but the invasion was so strong that I gave up at that moment because I saw that it was not enough. I had to think of another stronger and more accurate tactic.

Many people doubt the efficacy of insecticides nowadays, especially because it is assumed that they are no longer manufactured with the same quality as before. However, I told myself that I had to try and that this invasion had to stop, otherwise the ants could end up evicting me from my home, imagine such a situation.

I went the next day to buy a sensational insecticide for extermination as well. I bought the insecticide for crawling insects and I was surprised with the price ($5), but I made the sacrifice and bought it, plus the bottle of vinegar to do the complete combat therapy.

All I know is that I put faith in the insecticide and began that day to place it on the part from where they entered the window and all around the edge of the counter. There were a lot of them, an impressive amount. Some of them stung me and gave me an allergy, but I could not be intimidated by them because I had to win this fight and dislodge them. The insecticide began to take effect and they began to fall from the ceiling and from the little paths they had on the wall.

Fueron tres días continuos rociando insecticida en todas las paredes y el mesón de la cocina. Tuve que desalojar todo lo que había en el mesón de la cocina. Me fui a dormir con mucha fe de que las hormigas se irían.

Cuál sería mi sorpresa en la mañana cuando vi aquella nube de hormigas muertas en cantidades industriales. Que sensación de alivio más grande pues, aunque ustedes no puedan creerlo y ver esto como algo simple, estás cotidianidades con insectos indeseables, llegan a convertirse en una gran preocupación, un gran dolor de cabeza pues.

Rocié insecticida como tres noches seguidas, además de limpiar el mesón y las superficies de cerámica con vinagre (alguien me dijo que las ahuyenta y es verdad). A Dios gracias, las hormigas se fueron y no volvieron. Sin embargo, sigo en vigilancia severa y atenta (no se puede bajar la guardia) a fin de que no aparezcan más.

Fue un fin de semana después de navidad, algo tortuoso, atormentante y definitivamente diferente. Algo para recordar y no querer volver a repetir. Absolutamente indeseable.

It was three continuous days spraying insecticide on all the walls and the kitchen counter. I had to dislodge everything from the kitchen counter. I went to sleep with great faith that the ants would go away.

What a surprise in the morning when I saw that cloud of dead ants in industrial quantities. What a great feeling of relief because, although you may not believe it and see this as something simple, these everyday things with unwanted insects, become a big concern, a big headache.

I sprayed insecticide about three nights in a row, in addition to cleaning the counter and ceramic surfaces with vinegar (someone told me that it repels them and it is true). Thank goodness the ants went away and never came back. However, I am still on severe and attentive vigilance (you can't let your guard down) so that they don't appear again.

It was a weekend after Christmas, something torturous, tormenting, and different. Something to remember and never want to repeat. Undesirable.
