this is a huge one, I recall in 2023 when I started working at an eatery, I have never been in such intense working condition before, was so so hectic and choking, I would resume 6:00 am, and from that moment till I close by 4 or 5pm depending on the task I'm able to finish i would be on my feet all day long, as a matter of fact there was no time to say eat or drink water or just sit down for a moment to rest, I was surprised at this happening, I love the speed and pace at which we were working, orders were flying in and out, customers are waiting in the front line for product, you're on one and they are requesting for another, for the first time in my life without been taught I understood what multitasking actually meant, I could be working on 3-4 products at a go with no stopping and many more orders coming in on my table.
then by the time I get home I would just die down flat till the next morning and repeated routine, then I could literally feel my heart pounding so hard in my chest, I was stressed stretch far beyond my limits, 6-5 everyday standing on my feet steadily working, I barely could have time to do anything else by the time I get home I'm off.
the day I broke down, it was inevitable, I was so hot and shaky vomiting, looking pale, it felt like all hell broke loose on me, I could not understand or tell what was going on with me, did multiple test, took drip, injections after injections, drugs recommended and two weeks rest, I was a shadow of my self I have never been exposed to such harsh hard working conditions before, at some point I'm like if anything happens to me, this persons business would continue and I'LL be gone, I said no I had to stop this before I loose my self.
this is one thing we do neglecting our health untill we experience a break down that's when we realise how far we've gone without checking in on z doctor, our health is paramount and that's inclusive of our personal life, we just want to make this money at all cost doesn't matter what's at stack.
I was just reading 's post about a quote from a book Make Time ..... according to his post a big rich CEO was interviewed about balancing work and personal life, the answer to that was pretty simple "PRIORITIES" she make appropriate plans and set priorities keeping everything where they belong where and when necessary.
you see we love to complicate things a lot, mixing things up can lead to a lot of misappropriation and because of that we miss out on the most important thing, things are important not because of how valuable they are to us but because of their effect and impact that will be when we utilize them at their most needed times, and that's how we should rank everythings based on their importance to us.
ever heard the saying health is wealth? guess what we here at this side of of the world do not care much about the former more about the later, we just want to make money and get all we need doesn't matter if we are taking good care of ourselves
I had to resign from my work because it was draining, the pay at the time was very lucrative but then my personal life was slipping away and that was going to be a bigger problem on my health and productivity, in other to get things balanced, I had to put myself first work later.
thanks for having me, this was my response to the prompt...
