Whether it is a winter morning or a rainy afternoon, the first thing that comes to mind when we think of rural Bengali traditions is pitha-puli of various types. In our culture, pitha is not just a food, it is a means of sharing joy with the whole family. Yesterday I made some such traditional pitha for my family Gulguli Pitha and Hand-cut Semai Pitha.
Even amidst the busyness of mechanical life, the taste of food made by one's own hands is different. Especially when something is made keeping in mind the preferences of the family, then the value of hard work is found. Yesterday I made these pitha with great care and time.
Semai Pitha (Chusi Pitha): It is made by hand cutting with rice powder. Then, the extraordinary taste that is created when cooked with condensed milk, jaggery or sugar is incomparable. It is nutritious as well as delicious to eat.
Gulgul Pitha: This is basically a sweet-tasting pitha fried in deep oil. Slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside it has no match for an afternoon snack.
As a parent, the biggest achievement for me is the satisfaction of my family members. The most joyful thing was the reaction of my children. Although the children are usually interested in chips or junk food from outside, they enjoyed these desi pithas very much yesterday. Seeing them eat them to their satisfaction, it seemed that the appeal of our own traditional dishes is still intact.
We should present these traditions to our next generation. Even in the midst of busyness, when we organize such meals at home, not only does our stomach hunger get satisfied, but the family bond is strengthened. I am happy to share this small moment of joy with my friends in the Hive community.
Who among you likes these pithas? Don't forget to tell us in the comments.
Anyway, this was my plan for today. I hope you liked the food photos I took. I will be back with more food photos like this. Wishing everyone good health, I bid farewell today. Wishing everyone good health, I bid farewell today.
