A wise man once told me "Choose your battle wisely!" Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way. I was an aspiring Management Trainee at my first job after college. Out of my over-enthusiasm at work, I indeliberately issued a memorandum that was supposed to be accomplished by another department. LOL! 😅 The head of that department called out my action as it was offensive and unnecessary. I remember crying while explaining my side during a random phone call with that department head. Later that day, I told my boss "I made a mistake!" ; I narrated what happened and he calmly said "You did the job anyway. Her call was just an unnecessary stress." Long story short, the creation and issuance of the memo was transferred to me. 😅
Life will throw countless battles at us but not all are worth the fight. If we fight all these, we'll be done with life before we know it. Every time I'm on the edge of losing my temper at work, I sometimes cry but finish the work anyway, most of the time I just let people be and work things within my control. I reciprocate animosity with silence. I don't mind a lot of things these days; what's not important to me doesn't bother me at all. It takes a lot of practice but not living life any other way. 😁
