The other day as I was going through old photos in my laptop, I realized one thing: that I've consistently eaten balanced meals whether home-cooked or store-bought since I committed to prioritizing my wellness in 2018. Of course, there were days I feasted and ate more than I should but I always ensured I went back on track and I did.
In 2018, I weighed ~76kgs, could barely run 200 meters nonstop without running out of breath, and a flight of stairs is my major enemy. At first, I had to abruptly cut my calorie intake, so I took rice out of the equation. Boiled eggs, vegetables, wheat bread, and fruits became my best friends. When I reached my ideal weight, I ate everything in moderation except for soft drinks. No sodas for me for 6 years and counting. Publicly putting all my efforts in my Facebook and now in Instagram, made everyone of you my accountability partner in this quest.
The past six (6) years have taught me so much but it all boils down to two (2) things:
- Healthy and balanced meals need not be expensive
- The best way to ensure you eat healthy is to cook it yourself
At first, I may have aimed to reduce my calorie intake but I moved past this stage and shifted my focus on balancing what I feed my body. The basic go, grow and glow is all we need to remember.
