Picking up where I left off recently. This stage promised to be even more exciting than the last! Climbing down from the Zsigmond rock, I rejoined the blue sign. This is perhaps the most beautiful part of Vértes, although the path was barely passable in places. Luckily there was no mud! Only the sound of birds and the whisper of the wind could be heard through the foliage. I only met hikers on two occasions, the first being a middle-aged woman writing her notes by the fire and camping at a rest stop. There was also a small spring where I filled my canteen.
I had another encounter with a young couple carrying huge backpacks. They had started from Bodajk and were going to Szárliget like me, only they were sleeping outside in the forest.
The forest here was also full of flowers, like this beauty.
Oaks alternated with beech. The oaks are just budding, while the beech trees have a nice green foliage.
The path led from the cool of the forest to the warm, sunny clearing.
I noticed a pretty little bivouac, offering safety and comfort to anyone who wants to spend the night. There was a spring next to it, but unfortunately no water came from it.
There are deep roads like this in the forest. When it rains heavily, it turns into a river.
This is the Rockenbauer memorial tree. Pál Rockenbauer was a great promoter of the Blue Trail movement in Hungary. In the 1970s and 1980s, he and his friends made a film while hiking the entire trail, which stretches over 1000 km. The film series is called One and a half million steps in Hungary, I saw it on TV when I was a teenager and I loved it.
This small path is still comfortably walkable.
The obstacle course has already started in front of Vitányvár.
There are many medieval castle ruins in the Vértes. So far I have visited these: Csókakő, Oroszlánkő, Gesztes. This is the castle of Vitány, which is under excavation, but open to the public.

Summary:
I completed the Vértes mountain section of my Blue Trail!
Before that, in winter, I had walked the eastern part of the Bakony Mountains between Zirc and Bodajk, and in April I completed the 20 km section between Zirc and Bakonybél.
A total of 135 km so far. That's more than 10% of the total distance!
I don't know yet which way I will go: east or west. Wherever I feel the call first, that's where I'll go!
