What's up everyone? So the past few weeks I've been talking to my buddies and
about getting out and going on an adventure! Well, inspired by our conversations and feeling extremely motivated, I decided it was time to get out and go do something!
My Uncle came to visit from California this week, and taking advantage of the decent weather, we took off after work on Wednesday the 25th and went to a private pond to go bass fishing! This was perfect timing, because my good friend just gave me his old baitcaster setup, and I was anxious to try it out for the first time! I've done a little bit of research on this setup, and a more detailed description of both the rod and reel, as well as my usual baits and setups I use will follow in a later post!
First thing first we had to go get a new pole for my Uncle, some lures and a few hooks. So we headed on out to Walmart for what we needed, which sadly, the drive took longer than the actual shopping, and went straight for the pond!
Once we arrived, I had to start taking a few pictures! I mean, come on, just look at this view and tell me you wouldn't have taken a few as well! This view, and the sounds of nature all around, is one of my favorite things about this pond; the serenity of the place is unreal to be honest!
Well, with my phone battery quickly dying, we both got to work ripping lips and slaying those bass! My first cast I caught a little guy, nothing to write home about, but still a fish nonetheless! Taking a quick pic, I got him off the hook as quickly as I could and threw him back into his home.
All in all, we were only there at the pond for about an hour, and in total we came up with 9 fish! I caught a total of 5, I only counted 4 though, because one was foul hooked through the gill :(. Uncle Tim ended up catching 4 in total, and they were all right about the same size as the little guys I caught.
These were the other 3 that I caught, I didn't take a picture of the one I foul hooked because I didn't count him as a catch! In the last picture you can see the bass colored Super Fluke in his mouth!!
While you always wish for a big fish, and want to have a good fight getting it out of the water, it was nice just to get out of the house for a little bit and have a little fun! :) Being that it was actually my first fishing trip in almost 2 years, and was also my first time ever using a bait caster, I had a great time and enjoyed every second of it!
I definitely backlashed my line quite a few times, but I started getting the hang of it and by the time we left I was feeling pretty confident with this new setup!
With this first trip of the year finally under my belt, I can't help but think about and start planning the next one!
Stay Trippy, My Little Hippies! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful week!
