You say you witnessed
the rebirth of death,
thanks to San Pedro,
in the sacred valley.
So let me ask now, my friend,
if you got to know the truth,
why do you keep going back
to the wishing well for more?
Which door you knocked
when you reached heaven?
Did you know right away
what you had to do or
you simply walked in
and stole the fire with
no intention to revisit?
Did you get there as a child
or as a man ? Who spoke to you?
Which foot touched first the
stepping stones of redemption?
Which role you played
to leave behind the bucket of crabs,
climb the rock and cease the
game of blame and shame?
Was it really enough
to stop the agony and
come out clean,
after you burnt the man
and got reborn into new clothes?
Come alive now, baby,
practice what you've learnt,
preach it to others and make
the world grow and glow!
Ayahuasca has captivated people for centuries. This hallucinogenic brew used by shamans to open communication with nature became one of the main attractions in Peru. In the past two decades many retreats have opened in pristine nature, in Central and South America, catering for the soul searching tourists. Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica turned out to be an easier and more accessible option for those who did not dare to venture to the top of mountains in Peru.
Among those attracted by the "Ayahuasca tourism" there are people from all walks of life. They all have one thing in common: personal growth. They seek answers and hope that the psycho active drink will enable them to become aware of their problems in their true significance.
The DMT contained by the plant ensures a mystical and enlightening experience for those who try it. Emotional healing, spiritual advancement and finding purpose seem to be some of its main beneficial effects.
The Ayahuasca ceremony can be a transformative event but it can also leave one more confused then he was before. This journey of enlightenment is quite unpredictable. Plunging into the fire and riding the Ayahuasca storm gives you what you need, not what you want.
Although Ayahuasca is not addictive, people visit these medicine retreats every year, seeking more knowledge. It`s a process of learning and self-potentiation.
Though when does one know when enough is enough? Where do we draw the line?
It has to be a downside of too much psychedelics!
