I was not really feeling it yesterday. It got rather warm early and I was feeling pretty worn out so I tried to take it a bit easy for the day. I still got some tasks accomplished so at least I was still productive. I had seen the squash would need picking so I got out to work through the rows first thing before it got hot. I got a nice 18.5 pound load which went to the cooler.
I then picked the few cucumbers that were ready. More will be ready to pick today.
It was hot but I still had to work through the cucumber row in the greenhouse and trim all the sucker branches. It really amazes me how I can miss so many each time, that or the plants are just popping out new branches all the time.
Then the same for the tomatoes. The suckers had to be nipped off all the plants and today I will go through and tie them to the strings again.
PDC world match play is ongoing this weekend and in the heat I am able to get out of the sun and throw a bit. After warming up for a while I managed a REALLY nice grouping. I'm getting FAR better at hitting the bull than I am the 3x-20 which is way bigger...
and my Mom took the boys to a birthday party and they went to shop in Deer Park. I was curious about the bone yard so went for a wander that way. It still smells of death in the area but I did find the skeleton of the deer that died of bloat over the winter had been stripped clean. I grabbed the skull and antlers and took it back to the gear shed and hung it with the large rack of antlers.
I have to say that I really like my string mower for the thick and dense areas but it is a bit of a pain in the ass for the sparser growing weeds. I find that the weedeater is much easier to use on the sparser areas as I can focus on the weeds where with the mower I just have to push it through the thin areas not cutting anything. I'm learning where they have their places.
The mower worked wonderful by the creek.
But the play area was a pain. Next time I will use the weedeater for this area.
It took some time for them to get back so it was 7 before I got the burgers on to grill. I really like my small grill as it only takes a handful of wood to create a hot enough bed of coals which also burns down nice and fast.
Despite being set at 90F the water was 98F but at least was not boiling feeling like the night before.
Today is the hot day then it cools off some over the next days. I'm not really sure what today will bring other than time in the gardens so will just play it as it lays today.
