Today I am going to my friend's brother's wedding. I had planned to come to his place. The wedding was in a village that was about a hundred kilometers away from us. So I got ready and went to my friend's place with another friend. This journey to a peaceful countryside was like a breath of fresh air. I’m sharing this story not just to relive those moments, but to take you with me through words — from our road trip to the colorful wedding celebrations, delicious food, late-night laughter, and everything in between.
The Journey Begins
We were a group of five close friends — all excited, packed into a small van with music blasting and snacks piled in the backseat. It is very nice, but there are also a few bugs, but here you can see the cool air and greenery of very beautiful crops, which makes your heart happy. Here we see many cattle and at the same time the canal which looks very beautiful, it is such a pleasure that one wants to come here every day.On the way, there is a very beautiful place where we stop our car and get off and bury ourselves in this place. There is also a dhaba from where we eat and continue our journey. This journey was very enjoyable.
First Impressions of the Village
We reach our friend Arif's guard. From here we see a very beautiful view of the village, in which the houses are mostly made of mud and are very colorful houses. His rooms are very beautiful and there are also livestock standing in front of the rooms. This is where they get meat and fresh milk from, which they use to make something every day.The living quarters in it are very open and close together, and it was a very clean village, with many local shops. You are very happy in the village, you look beautiful.Their clothes are very different and colorful.
The Warm Welcome
We were welcomed like royalty. Arif’s parents treated us with immense respect and warmth. Within an hour, we were given our rooms, fresh clothes, and steaming cups of tea. Village hospitality is unmatched — and I quickly realized that this trip was going to be more than just a wedding visit; it was going to be an experience of culture, tradition, and love.
Pre-Wedding Fun: Mehndi Night
The night before the wedding, the mehndi event was held. The boy and girl are made to sit together, relatives come and apply henna to them in turn, footage and pictures of which are also taken, and later they are fed sweets. After feeding them, a dance party is held. After that, everyone is given food. After the food is served, everyone goes to their respective homes and then at night there is a lot of talking and a lot of fun and some even make fun of each other. This wedding goes on until 2 am, this function is very good.
The Wedding Day: Baraat Arrival
The big day arrived. Everyone was up by sunrise. Women began preparing breakfast, men were arranging logistics, and kids were running around in traditional clothes. After breakfast, we dressed in our finest shalwar kameez and sherwanis. Arif looked dashing, being the groom’s younger brother, and we all tried to match his energy. As soon as we get ready and come out, Arif has already come with the car and is telling us to get out and we are leaving for the wedding so that we can reach the girl's house as soon as possible.
The Nikkah and Rukhsati
At the bride’s home, we were welcomed with rose petals and cold drinks. The nikkah ceremony was a simple and spiritual affair. And there was joy in all their eyes. And when it's time to leave, a girl is brought out, wearing red clothes and very decorated. She meets her parents because she was going to someone else's house. The boy's parents pick her up. The girl's brothers support her and put her in the car, and we leave from there.
Exploring Village Life
So this wedding ceremony ends and we leave to go to the boys' house. On the way, I see many cows sitting on the bank of the canal and they were sitting in the shade. They are a great source of food and milk and they were creating a very fantastic look. These cows are in demand because they are a source of food and everyone likes to raise them, and profit is also very important in them, as now the sacrifice is coming, so they will be sold, which brings a lot of profit.
As soon as we get out, we stop at a bridge over a canal where there is a lot of grass and there is a beautiful view of an afternoon where cows are grazing and people are sitting on it, enjoying the view. We also stop our car there and stay there for half an hour.
Saying Goodbye
All good things come to an end. The morning we were to leave, the entire family came to see us off. Arif’s mother packed food for the road, his father shook our hands with pride, and the kids hugged us tightly.I was very tired at that time and we decided to go home and everyone sat in the sofa and got ready to go home and just like that we said goodbye to them and they told us very happily that they would definitely come back again.
Final Thoughts
Attending my friend’s brother’s wedding in his village wasn’t just a trip — it was a journey back to our roots.
If you ever get a chance to attend a village wedding, don’t think twice. Go, live the experience, and let it teach you what city life can sometimes make us forget — that real happiness often lies in simplicity.
