The week so far has been very solid alreadt at around a full unit of profit out of the Cup and Friday evening matches as pretty much all small- to medium-sized bets won. I didn't make full previews as they were single matches and my views were not that strong. I did as always share all my bets on the Discord, though and I hope to continue on this momentum on Saturday and Sunday, which each host 3 matches.
Charleroi vs Westerlo
Both Charleroi and Westerlo are still in distance of winning playoff 2 but a win is an absolute must if they went to remain in contention. At the same, both don't really have anything to lose so it should be a match where at least at some points risks will be taken. Charleroi last week was rather lucky to get a win against Antwerp away while they got 2.06 xg against (which included a missed penalty). The week before, Charleroi managed to win at home after a counter goal and a penalty against Genk who were not good enough. Playing at home should be an advantage and they are able to field their best team. Westerlo last week got an unique chance in the match against Genk who lost both Kartesas and Heymans but they ended up losing with a 3-0 score despite 1.81xg. This very much might have them reach the decompression point where any belief in winning playoff 2 has been crushed. This also kind of reflects in the odds as Charleroi is the -0.75 favorite which kind of makes sense as they have the home & likely also the motivational edge. I also would not be surprised for Westerlo to play freely and take the outright away win though in an open match. I took 0.16 units on Westerlo Team Total Over 1 @ 1.810, along with 0.04 units on
Westerlo Team Total Over 1.5 @ 2.830. I also keep chasing Bayram to score as he is the most likely penalty picker. so if he is in the line-up I will take another small chance on that. I do expect a match were Charleroi at the start is going to be most willing to go forward and I'm keeping an eye out on their corners handicap.
Standard vs Genk
Standard somehow is at equal points with Genk in playoff 2, and today is a pretty big game, especially for Genk to possibly run away. Standard in their last match looked willing to go forward from the start at least in the first 10 minutes after which it slowed down and they went back to their defensive hold-up style which worked so far. I more than ever expect Standard today to just lock things down once again counting to get in a couple on the counters like the 0-5 match away against Antwerp. The question though is if they can keep getting away with the luck they have been having. Genk after 3 matches without a win managed to take a 3-0 against direct rival Westerlo which wasn't as easy as the score looks. They have been a team where the potential of the squad has been far greater than the actual output in results. I'm kind of liking Genk in this spot but at the same time, I don't trust them and Standard might aim for a draw which keeps them in 1st place and matters in their own hands. Both Karetsas and Heymans are also questionable for Genk. I can see a match where either Genk takes the initiative as long as they are not ahead or where Standard starts strong for 10 minutes again only to fall back in defense after. If that scenario happens, there might be some good in-game value on Genk. For now, I was willing to only take 0.141 units on
Genk 1st Half +0 @ 1.710 with an eye to take more in-game.
Sint-Truiden vs AA Gent
Since Union won the Cup match on Thursday, Stvv is sure to be directly qualified for the Europa League already and they pretty much have nothing left to play for aside from the fun and the honor. Their coach stated that some younghsters might be getting a chance. This is one of those scenarios that can go both ways, either they fully play freely and good, or there can be some decompression with some players already being in vacation mode. Last week, I took notes on the Stvv match to bet against teams who have decompression after reaching a goal as Stvv was sure of 3rd place while having a slim to none chance to still reach 2nd place. AA Gent still has everything to play for as they need to finish 4th or 5th which they still very much are in range for. AA Gent though has not been convincing and they failed to get passed the Anderlecht defense with 11 vs 10 in the 2nd half. Van Der Heyden will also be suspended and Paskotsi is injured. At the moment it's one of those matches were my hands are pretty much tied as I don't want to back the team who potentially could have decompression as the clear facvorite, while the team with everything to play for has shown that they can't really be trusted.
