Taking a cue from the Med-Hive description of what lung diseases are, I will like to expatiate on some highlighted terms. In my last writeup on respiratory health, we got schooled by a student (lol!). We will take a similar but better perspective as regards this piece.
Lung diseases refer to a range of conditions that affect the lungs and respiratory system, causing difficulty breathing, chest pain, coughing, etc. (as earlier stated, this is coined from the inkwell page). Some diseases are hereditary, as are lung diseases. Just like inheritance or wealth passed down a family lineage can easily change a person’s life (aka beneficiary or descendant), so does inherited disease have a significant impact on the "beneficiary’s" life. In reference to respiratory diseases, it’s very rare to escape inheriting this "luck" as the offspring of a carrier. One vital piece of advice here is to research your lineage and go for a checkup; it’s better to manage an ailment before it gets complicated!
According to Eleanor Hayward, lung damage caused by smoking can be passed on genetically to children and grandchildren. Although this is a suggestion from research, imagine the fact that your whole generation is suffering from a disease just because you want to be "smoking hot!" Avoid smoking! Stop smoking!
Many people are lackadaisical about their health. They fail to listen to their bodies. There was a time I was writing content for a laboratory where they had lots of patients showing up with complicated cases. One of the major challenges we have, especially in Nigeria, is ignoring our body signals. In many cases, the body gives a subtle alarm when something is wrong, but we just ignore it like it’s nothing. The worst part is that when we choose to respond to these signals, we take the wrong approach — self-medication! Some people are so addicted to self-medication that they can take Paracetamol any day or anytime they have any health challenge! Stop self-medication!
In case you notice any symptoms of lung disease, as shown earlier, you need to avoid the people highlighted in this paragraph. There are several "doctors" these days, even though they never got a degree or any backing to show for their acclaimed titles. These kinds are very good at guesswork and are almost everywhere, especially in Nigeria. Avoid them! Some people lost their lives getting prescriptions from laymen who seemed to be "experts" under the guise of seeing them (the "laymen doctors") solve similar cases. Again, I say, avoid them! In addition, there’s something we call "Nurse Adugbo" (aka quack nurses in your area or environment) in Nigeria; these ones can inject anything into anyone! They are also very confident and usually mean (all these things are just to convince you they know what they are doing). They even handle child delivery; so many have lost their lives patronizing such nurses.
In case you fall into any category of my explanations, kindly get yourself checked (either to stop the acts or see a doctor) as soon as possible. I’ll keep in touch.
