Stinging nettles are widely available in many climates and zones. in many cases are treated like a problem.
but for many, this plant is one of the best allies for correcting deficiencies and encouraging growth in other plants through the very simple preparation process of a fertiliser or "tea".
the effects of the use of this fertiliser are so effective, that its use has been banned in France (any better proof that its awesome..?)
the preparation of the tea is very simple. these are the steps to follow:
- pick stinging nettles leaves
- cover them completely with water
- the tea is ready for use once the leaves are fully disintegrated. the final product will also have a foul smell to it.
I personally use whole branches of the plant. the leaves are the first to disappear.
it is advisable to avoid seeds if you are worried of having to many plants popping everywhere the tea will be used.
once ready, dilute the tea 1:10 in water and use anywhere.
stinging nettles are known to contain high levels of Iron which will treat plants that suffer from Anemia (normally faded yellowish leaf color).
also, contains high levels of Nitrogen which is one of the most important for plant growth.

some plant families are more prone to anemia and show amazing results once treated with nettles tea, the citrus family is a good example.
Stinging nettles are also known to be very beneficial for human consumption and around where I live, are used in pestos that are an absolute delight !
