My cousin in Thailand has a few Rambai Fruit Trees in her garden. These little fruits are not only delicious, but are also healthy for you.
The Rambai fruit has a juicy fruit, which on a simple level is good for hydration, especially when are you are out in the hot Thailand sun. The nutritional benefits passed down from family are believed to help with digestion , eye health and blood sugar levels. The fruit is high in Vitamin C and Iron which really underlies the health benefits.
Grandfather would use the leaves of this tree as well. He would ground the leaves and use for there was a sickness in the family. You don't want to boil the leaves as you would lose the nutritional value.
Pictured below is my cousin, very proud of her trees :-)
The Rambai Tree, which is native to Thailand, has no problem bearing many fruits to harvest.
These are not big fruits in size. They ripen from an early green stage to a yellow/white stage is best for harvest.
The fruit is sweet to the taste and many people will cook these fruits and makes jams or even wine.
If you are familiar with the mangosteen fruit it is similar but it is much smaller in size.
Times are changing in Thailand and some of these traditional herbs or fruits used for medicine are lost forever. Families would pass down from generation to generation the medicinal value of a tree leave, berry or fruit.
