Do you know that the Peanuts are good source of Fiber, Protein and Healful fats. It is high in calories but peanuts are low in carbohydrates and rich in nutrients including Vitamin B, potassium and magnesium. So it is better to eat stewed peanuts and home made peanut butter. You can be sure it is healthy.
This is the day I have been waiting for. The harvesting of my first peanut plant after a long time. As I said in my previous blogs entitled The Day of my Peanuts - Root Crops, my harvest of it is too early for the actual harvest time. It's supposed harvest is in 4 to 5 months, but mine is only 3 months. One more month and it is ready but I can't wait for it because winter is coming and it will not continue to bear much peanut.
However, it is also good to harvest early because I really need to extend this plot to mix the natural fertilizers that I store for two to three months. My only problem would be the extra soil to fill the gap for the plants. But I prepared for it, I just do not know if it will be enough?
This is the Beginning
If you notice, in the middle is my peanut plant and on both sides is empty. That is the extended plot I am referring to because what I will replace with peanuts is the eggplant. Maybe only about 5 to 6 can be planted there at a distance of 40 centimeters each. It cannot be less than 40 centimeters because when it grows its branches will collide and its roots can compete with the nutrients of the soil. </div

It has a depth of only 25 to 30 centimeters due to the plastic tube (PVC) beneath it which is connected by internet and telephone cables. It is safe to use and plant plants because there is no electricity in the pipes and the PVC pipe is thick.
It's Time to Pull it Out
Do you see black PVC? That is what I avoid and keep from being hit and punctured. But do you see the nuts? There are a lot of nuts in a tree, and if you notice, what I used to grow peanuts are loose brown sand without stones.
Take a look at how many peanuts there are in a bunch of peanut plants. And because the harvest was less than a month old, the peanut fruit did not gain much weight and there were still small peanuts that could have grown. That 's okay, because I have proven that I can grow and reproduce in a few pieces of seed.
It's Her Turn to pull it out the Peanuts
This time, I let my wife
to pull out the peanuts we planted. Honestly, I woke her up at 6:45 Am, just to show what peanuts look like when they are pulled out and how many they are. She was interested to know and see the peanuts, so, she got up. And the wind is nice because it is BER month! Meaning, winter has begun and it feels good to hang out.
When she pulled slowly, she realized that the other nuts were not yet big and that they were still growing. I explained that it would have been a month before it was harvested, so, it was really necessary to pull it out because today is September the start of winter. The important thing is that he experienced and saw how to harvest peanuts.
She was even amazed because he tracked it from seed until it grew and harvested. And I also said that the next thing I will plant is the eggplant. Just right in time, I just need to germinate the seed to transfer when it has grown to 2 inches.
New Bed of Seeds has Begun
After we pulled the peanuts, we sorted, cleaned, and immediately prepared the ground for planting eggplant. I dug a little deeper into the soil to deepen it because its roots spread quickly and grew. But do you know my secret to planting? I call it layering. I learned this from my planting experience, because what I like in the soil are natural fertilizers and not chemical fertilizers.
How is layering done?
1. In the excavated soil after removing the stones, the first thing to be placed around it is the dried grass. This will prevent the soil from continuing to thaw when watering the plant.
2. The second layer is the soil or clean sand. Make sure the thickness of the soil to be placed is at least 1 inch or more.
3. Third, put on the rotting skins of fruits and vegetables. And if you have unused steel, include it as well.
4. Fourth, cover the rotting skin of vegetables and fruits with soil. Again, make sure the thickness is more than 1 inch.
5. And lastly, cover with dry leaves or dry grass and cover it with soil that is more than 2 inches thick and watered.
These are my ways in the loamy and fertile soil before I plant. And of course, it has to stay ten days before the crops are transferred.
The Place of Dry Leaves
This is where I get the dry leaves I use on my crops, the dry leaves that fall on the other side of the hospital fence. Using the plastic bag, I crush the dried leaves inside and mix them in the ground to make a natural fertilizer.
After I put all the dry leaves, I will cover them again with soil and water to soften the crushed leaves and rot underground for 2 weeks.
This is the last layer I made after the soil. What I put in was grains of wood cuttings from the carpentry shop of our company. Then I covered it with soil. All I have to do is wait another 10 days or more and water it daily to keep it wet while waiting for the germination of eggplant seeds that I will plant.
